Normally when someone asks me what I generally read, I’ll respond with “everything.” Except lately I’ve been drifting more towards YA Books (young adult). Truthfully, some of the best books I’ve been reading lately have been YA books. I thought it would be fun to share a few of those YA books

[one-half]Georgia Peaches and Other Forbidden Fruit
When Joanna’s preacher father decides that he’s moving them from Atlanta to Rome, Georgia, she’s not really sure what to think. Especially when her father asks if she can play down her homosexuality. Joanna isn’t exactly pleased, but she figures that she can handle it for a year. Until she meets Mary Carlson.
I know it sounds a little depressing, but I promise it’s a fun and enjoyable read.

[one-half-first]The Sun Is Also a Star
I work in customer service and one of the things I always try to remember is that you have no idea what’s going on in someone else’s day. This book plays with this idea as it tells the story of Natasha and Daniel during an important day in both of their lives. I loved how it alternated between each of their stories while also telling the stories of the people who come into their lives during the day. If I could have, I would have happily read this in one day.

[one-half]Thirteen Reasons Why
I’ll be honest, this one was difficult to get through. After Hannah Baker’s suicide, she leaves behind 13 tapes to be delivered to each of those responsible. On the tapes, she explains what and who drove her to her death. Clay, the boy who admired her from afar, just received the tapes. You get to spend the book with Clay as he listens to these tapes and discovers what really happened.

[one-half-first]Fangirl: A Novel
Okay, I’ll admit, I didn’t read this one recently. I love it so much though that I had to share it with you. Fangirl is just so much fun. It centers on Cath, a popular fan fiction writer. Cath is entering her freshman year of college and she has no idea how to make this transition and stay true to herself.
