Right now is probably the weirdest time of year to get dressed. You’re sick of all of your winter clothes by this point, but it’s too cold to start pulling out that spring attire. Add in that you’re getting dressed for work in a business casual office and it all just feels miserable.

So what’s the easiest way to combat that? Putting together some cute winter workwear looks that combine a mix of winter pieces with some pieces that can be re-worn in the spring! Below, I pulled together using some of my favorite pieces available online right now. The best part is that most of the items are on sale thanks to end of season sales!

Winter Workwear Looks

A Slightly More Formal Business Casual

Blouse, Earrings, Pants, Ankle Boots

Let’s start with a more business casual look. One of the things that I love about this look is that the blouse and pants can easily be worn into the warmer months. You can just swap out the ankle boots for pumps and you’re good to go.

I put together this second look to show how you can still use some of your warmer weather pieces to create winter work outfits. Now, you may have to wear warmer shoes to get to the office, but the denim tweed on the Mary Jane’s give them a more cold weather vibe. You’ll also get a lot of use out of this satin tee come spring, but adding a cardigan over the top will help you stay warm for now.

Yes, you can still wear your floral skirts during the winter! The trick to doing that? During the colder weather, focus on highlighting the darker colors of the skirt (like the burgundy). Once spring comes, highlight the lighter colors by wearing similar colors on top. For this look, I also helped to winter-ize it by pairing them with a nice tall pair of suede boots.

The More Casual Side of Business Casual

Old Navy Relaxed Twill Blazer, wide leg trouser jeans, brown ankle boots, j.crew necklace, personal stylist in dc, J.Crew Dainty gold-plated layered necklace, Marc Fisher Leonna Pointed Toe Bootie, Old Navy High-Waisted Wow Wide-Leg Jeans

Blazer, Pants, Ankle Boots, Necklace

Does your office fashion guidelines allow you to wear jeans? Consider yourself one of the lucky ones! This is an easy look to pull together with an oversized blazer and a simple tee underneath. I added the ankle boots from one of the earlier looks to match the brown in the blazer and show you an additional way to style them.

If your office dress code allows denim, but you aren’t sure how to make it work, just keep in mind a few things when picking out your jeans for a business casual outfit:

  1. Stick to darker washes (dark blue and black) or white: Those look more professional and put together than light blues or grays.
  2. Avoid certain cuts: This can get a little tricky going pair to pair, but straight leg and boot cut are typically safe bets. Also, some jeans have a more trousers cut (like this pair), which makes them a great option for work.
  3. Avoid jeans with holes: it just looks sloppy and like you don’t care. Save those jeans for the weekend!

Jacket, Black Top, Earrings, Pants, Pumps

One of the things I like about this look is that it can be incredibly versatile. Just sub out the jacket for a sweater or blazer! The black turtleneck and pumps can be easily paired with almost any other jacket, so you could easily re-wear this look multiple times, but with different jackets or jewelry.
