I’m back with more of what I’m wearing lately! This series has been kind of good for me, because it definitely forced me to get completely dressed most days. Especially last week when I would have been perfectly happy to stay in my work out clothes all day. I mean I could take pictures of my work out clothes of What I’m Wearing lately, but no one wants to see that every day. (They’re mostly black and white, it would be boring.)
Anyways, let’s get on with this what I’m wearing lately update and quarantine update!

Weird Purchases
Dog Jacket and Dog Backpack
If you missed the announcement last week, I got a dog! She’s the cutest little mini doxie and she’s so playful. But since she’s so tiny she gets cold outside super easily. So I’ve been on the hunt for a waterproof jacket to protect her from the rain/cold. I picked this one up from amazon and it’s working pretty well so far. Does she love it? Nope, she’d rather eat it. But it’s keeping her dry and warm so she’ll learn to love it.
We also got this dog backpack (yes, it’s the Taylor Swift one, call me lame, I don’t care) so we can bring her in Ubers and carry her easily to places. We tested it out this week and it works really well! She’s still getting used to it, but it’s made bringing her around so much easier, especially since she’s not the best walker. (She’s easily distracted and doesn’t walk far.)
PMD Clean
This was an indulgent buy for me on Amazon Prime Day, but I’ve loved using it when I’m getting ready for bed. I’ve used it to put on face wash, serums, and moisturizer. It feels like such a luxury and I love having a little facial massage each night. Does it work as well as it says? No clue, I’ve no really been using it for a week. But we’ll see, and honestly who cares, I love getting a facial massage.

Read The Room Needlepoint
Do I need more projects for my needlepoint stash? No. But when I saw this canvas, it was so funny that I knew I was going to pick up it up. I’m waiting for it to arrive, but what should I turn it into once I finish it? I’m thinking a clutch might be cute.
Live Show Tickets
All of my favorite comedians/podcasters are finally doing live shows online! It’s great because I get to watch them from my couch (or bed) and since they don’t have to pay club fees, the shows aren’t as expensive. Last night I watched Nicole Byer’s “Why Won’t You Date Me?”. Tonight I’m watching Kate Kennedy’s Be There in Five and next week is Hannah Berner’s Friendsgiving.
Halloween Candy
Of course I stocked up on Halloween candy on November 1st…and may have taken a few trips back after. I picked up some of the regular stuff, but then I also found a few new treats that I haven’t seen before. The most delicious new finds? Cookies and Cream Twix and Marshmallow Kit Kats!

What I’m Reading and Watching
Reading
So last month I had what I thought was kind of a slow reading month. But every time I looked at that list, something just felt a little off, just a little wrong. Well I figured it out. I hadn’t logged two or three books that I had read last month. I just completely forgot to put them into my Goodreads account. Whoops! But it explains a lot. So I thought I would share one of those reviews here!
Tools of Engagement by Tessa Bailey
Note: I received an advanced copy of this novel in exchange for an honest review.
The Hot and Hammered Series has been one of my most fun romance series reads this summer. Each read has been more playful than the next and Tessa Bailey has continued to surprise me with the little twists thrown into each novel. Tools of Engagement is the third novel in the series and by far one of the best. Not only does it eliminate the quirk that annoyed me in the first two books (cutesy nicknames like baby girl), but after watching Bethany for two novels, it was amazing to get a look into her lives and see how she had become so intent on making everything in her life perfect.
The addition of the HGTV spin into the novel was also excellent and made perfect sense considering we had watched this family build and renovate house after house.
Yes, readers should read the entire series in order, but if they wanted to skip ahead to Tools of Engagement first…I would completely understand.
Upcoming reads I’m super excited about:
Instant Karma by Marissa Meyer
Make Up Break Up by Lily Menon
To Love and to Loathe by Martha Waters
Troubles in Paradise by Elin Hilderbrand
The Good Sister by Sally Hepworth

Watching: Movies and TV
Holiday Movies
Whether it’s Hallmark or Netflix, I love them all. I love silly, cheesy holiday movies and I’m so excited to watch them this year. In fact, I may have already started. If you have any must-watches, please let me know! Also, no, I did not enjoy Holidate, so please don’t suggest that.

Hollywood
I watched the first episode of “Hollywood” on Netflix when it first came out, but I ended up just putting it to the side. But the other weekend, I ended up picking it back up again and I got totally sucked in. I finished it the other night and it was great. You can also see how they totally set themselves up for a second season. The only thing is that it’s a complete idealization of how people wished Hollywood would have been in the 1950s and the breakthroughs that would have happened. Yes, I totally wish that there was a studio that would have been like that, but unfortunately there wasn’t. So you definitely have to suspend your belief to make this show watchable.
Holiday Baking Championship
It’s back for the holidays! This Food Network show is so much fun and I love watching the bakers, judges, AND host on it, which is a rare combination. I’m a little sad that the judge Lorraine won’t be back, but luckily I love her replacement Carla Hall. If you love baking competitions, this is a great one to watch. I also can’t wait to start the new one with Kristin Chenoweth.

Cooking and Baking
I don’t know how, but I got myself to start cooking again. I think it started with a super rainy day where all I wanted was chili. After that, the weather in DC started to do a ping pong back and forth, so all of the rainy days made me want to start testing out comfort foods. There have only been two new recipes I’ve tried out so far, but I figured I could still report back.
Pumpkin Mac and Cheese
So the first run of this was a bit of a fail, but I think that was my fault. I think I may have put a little too much pumpkin puree in. The recipe called for two cups of puree and my can said it had 1.5 cups. I added one more half cup to my mixture, but I think it would have been fine with just the can. Since I wasn’t in love with how it turned out, I decided to play with it a day or two later.
I made more pasta to mix in, then I threw all of that in a baking pan. Then I added more shredded cheese to the top and bread crumbs. I warmed it for 25 minutes at 350 degrees and then put it under the broiler for 2 or 3 minutes on high. The bread crumbs browned up and the result was a delicious mac and cheese bake!
Pumpkin Baked Oatmeal
Can you sense a trend here? I had to do something with the leftover pumpkin! I’m also kind of over my yogurt for morning breakfast. It’s good, but the morning have just been too chilly for a cold breakfast. I left out the cranberries, nuts, and extra things, but it was still delicious. The recipe is also super easy to make, so I have a feeling that I’ll definitely be making this again in the future.
