I know what you’re thinking: another post about swimsuits? Does this girl only have one setting? Well hear me out for a second. There are a handful of companies who are doing some great campaigns around swimsuits right now. And I don’t mean that they put together a great slogan for their swimsuits or took pretty pictures or some shenanigan like that. No, these companies are taking what can normally be an uncomfortable topic to handle and helping open up the conversation.
First, there’s aerie who has completely change the conversation. Not only are they no longer retouching their models (in swimsuits or underwear), but they’ve partnered to help support National Eating Disorder Association. They’re encouraging girls everywhere to post their untouched photos to #aerieREAL and encourage women to love their body.
Second, during May (Skin Cancer Awareness Month), J.Crew will donate a portion of the sale of every J.Crew swimsuit to benefit skin cancer prevention. A donation of $.50 for each swimsuit sold will be made to each of The Melanoma Research Alliance and The Skin Cancer Foundation, up to a maximum total donation of $25,000.)
And finally, did you catch out my instagram back in February? Target is encouraging women everyone to have #NoFOMO because they’re afraid of wearing a swimsuit.
It’s important to love the body you’re in and each of these companies want to make sure that you know that. If you haven’t gotten your swimsuit yet, then now’s the time! Consider buying your suit from one of these companies and support a great cause.
