Two Ways To Wear Wide Leg Pants: Work & Weekend

I think it’s fair to say that once I jump on the train for a trend, I tend to get fully on board. I’m not really a one stop kind of gal. After all, when I wrote this post saying I was giving into the mules trend, who knew that I would still be loving mules two years later? I guess that also makes them not a trend, right?

Well now the same thing is happening with me and wide leg pants. When Everlane approached me about them two (ish?) years ago, I said nope, won’t look good on me. I should have just listened to them. I was a fool not to. They knew better than I did, after all. After styling my white pair for you a few weeks ago, today I’m sharing my navy pair, AND I have a green pair on the way.

I think this is a good lesson for all of us then. First, you don’t have to embrace every trend, but it’s okay to fall head over heels in love with one. And second, if Everlane suggests you try something, it’s probably a good idea to do so.

Two Ways To Wear Wide Leg Pants

Truthfully, my work is business casual-ish enough that I could wear either of these looks into work. But I figured we can talk about what gives one a little more business edge over the other. We can also talk about other ways you can style each look. To make it more work day or weekend appropriate.

For Work

The Top

Could there be anything more work appropriate than a button up? Probably not. Now, I could have gone the normal route of tucking it in (which I debated), but I decided that tying it in front would make it a little more fun. It’s perfect for the more creative office atmosphere. If your office leans more towards the business, stick with tucking your shirt in, but definitely roll up your sleeves to keep the more casual look.

I love Everlane Day Heels. I’ve sung their praises before and I’ll continue to do so until the end of time. They’re so freaking comfortable and worth every penny. This color is sadly no longer in stock, but it’s still available in about 10 other colors.

But anyways, I think that a low heel pump is perfect for any office. It’ll be comfortable, but keep you looking polished. If you prefer a flat, I would aim for something that’s comfortable but not completely flat, like the Everlane 90’s flat. Dr. Scholl’s also has some surprisingly cute options like this one!

The Weekend

The Tee

For my office, it’s completely okay for me to wear a tee, but I’m sure that’s not okay across the board. That’s why I figured this outfit is safer as a weekend pick. The tee is comfortable and will look cute whether you’re running errands or going to brunch.

If your office is okay with tee’s, then I would suggest looking for a more fitted, crew neck option. You don’t want anything wear the collar is all stretched out or the v-neck hangs too low. Now, I’m not ruling out a v-neck, but just do a double check in the mirror about how far down it goes before you leave for work.

Have I told you how much I love mules? Not enough yet? Well, I think these mules tie everything together well and help give it a casual weekend look.

If you want to upgrade it to a slightly more business look, then I would suggest changing out these mules for a loafer mule (or just a loafer). That’ll give your outfit a little more polished and make you look ready for the work day.
