I feel like when I’ve made these lists in past years, they’ve been filled with clothing and shoes. But this year, I probably purchased the least amount of clothing than I have in years. Instead, this year was all about the things that made my day to day life easier. Okay, and I included one or two pieces of clothing. I haven’t completely stopped shopping.
15 Things I Don’t Regret Buying in 2024
1. Simple Modern Tumbler
I’ll say it, until this year, I was a Stanley gal. I loved those big old water tumblers and had two I rotated between. Well, I’ve officially been converted and I’m never going back to Stanley tumbler. The Simple Modern Tumbler is better than the Stanley by leaps and bounds. Not only is it sleeker looking, but it DOESN’T SPILL. With a toddler and a dog, I’m basically living on the floor now and not having to worry about water getting everywhere if my tumbler tips over is amazing.
2. Brother Wireless Laser Printer
If you don’t have a wireless printer, you’re doing it wrong. Since I no longer have an office to go into and my husband primarily works from home, a printer at home is a must. And we’ve had one that’s been….okay. But it was a pain in the butt having to bring our laptops over to the printer and plug in the cord to print. Now I can just click print from my computer and it magically prints in the other room. It’s been a game changer.
3. Hatch Rest 2nd Gen Dream Machine
Okay, technically I didn’t buy this one, but I don’t regret receiving it (still counts, right?). This is also really for those of you with kids. We got a Hatch as a present from a friend who raved about it. I assumed it was just a sound machine, nothing fancy. Oh no. You can pick from a ton of sounds, lights, AND I can program it from my phone. So I can have everything on a timer and I don’t even need to think about turning it off and on. When E moves from a crib to a bed, we’ll also be able to use the lighting feature so it can turn from red to green when he’s allowed to “get up” in the mornings.
4. Vacuum Storage Bags with Electric Air Pump
When I was pregnant and we were moving to a new apartment, I put all of my non-maternity clothes in vacuum sealed bags. It made moving a breeze and it was much easier to store my clothes. Then this year, I realized, duh, why am I not using these to pack? Since I have to frequently squeeze my stuff and E’s into one suitcase, I’ll do whatever I can for a little extra room. These bags made our cross-country trip for a wedding much easier. Plus, this pack comes with a small electric pump, so I could easily reseal the bags when it was time to come home.
5. Candle Warmer Lamp
This was not my first candle warmer lamp, but this was the one that made my life much much better. My candles now last longer, we have extra light in our living room and I can finally enjoy all of my candles.
6. Portable Charger
Sometimes I feel like the queen of portable chargers. I’m always ready to try a new one and find the best option. Right now, this one is my favorite. It’s flat, it easily plugs into a wall, AND it comes with built in cables that neatly fold into it. The charge lasts forever and it’s more convient than other chargers I’ve used in the past.
7. J.Crew Polo Shirt
A lot of clothing that I got this year was just inexpensive pieces that could get me through post-partum while I was losing the pregnancy weight. This was one of the first pieces that I was able to buy in my original size and it was such a good find. The material is stretchy and the colors are fun, but not too flashy. The original striped version that I got is sold out, but they have a few solid color options that I may pick up.
8. Peace Out Acne Dots
I feel like I’ve tried three different acne dot options and this is definitely the one where I’ve seen the best results. The others really felt like they didn’t do much, while I could see the difference after using these. They’re a must-have for anyone dealing with acne (which is really everyone, right?).
9. Cushionaire Luna Sandal
This summer was all about comfort and things that I could easily walk in. I purchased these sandals in brown a few years ago, but I decided to pick up the black version this summer. I wore them all of the time and I was able to walk everywhere in them. I don’t know how they’re so comfortable, but they are!
10. VTech Sit-To-Stand Learning Walker
Okay, this is another one for people with young kids. My parents had this walker at their house and E was OBSESSED with it when we visited. We ended up getting one for our own home and he plays with it every single day. I always thought I would be someone who didn’t want any toys that make noise (and I still don’t), but this toy is the exception to that rule.
11. Ticket Stub Diary
I’ve kept all my ticket stubs since I was in high school and I used to keep them in small glass containers (like cleaned out pasta sauce jars). It was a cute idea, but it started to be a pain in the but to move. Also, you couldn’t really tell what they were anymore. I picked up this ticket stub diary and spent less than an hour moving all of my old ticket stubs into these (I ended up needing two!). It was such a fun way to be able to revisit the tickets and I love that I’ll actually be able to easily see all of them at once.
12. Loft Rugby Stripe Polo
I don’t know why I love the rugby polo trend, but I really do. I also love that I was able to find such a cute top at a low price. I haven’t shopped at Loft in a while because I realized that those were always the items that I ended up donating. But I was excited to find this shirt and I have a feeling I’m going to keep it around for a while. (PS The color I have is almost sold out, but I love this color too)
13. Stone Bath Mat
I absolutely love my dog, but she can be a stubborn dog who likes to revenge pee on our bathmats. For a while we would just wash our bath mats, but it became too much of a pain. Also, our bathmats just started to feel gross and stinky after a while. I figured that a stone bath mat would be less appealing to her since it’s not soft and I was right! She’s left it alone and it dries so much quicker than a regular bath mat. I don’t love the gray color, but I can live with it for now.
14. Kindle Remote Control Page Turner
I haven’t used this as much as I would like to, but I can already tell that it’s a game changer. Our apartment gets cold in the winter, which I love, but it’s not as much fun to hold up your kindle in bed when you just want to bundle under the covers. Thanks to this remote, I can read AND stay bundled up. It’s a still extravagance, but it wasn’t that expensive and it makes me so happy.
15. Nature’s Hair, Skin & Nails Extra Strength Biotin
Okay, this might be the silliest one on the list, but it’s been a necessary part of my life this year. Women weren’t kidding when they talk about how much postpartum shedding happens. It was insane. But since I’m on a bit of a budget, I didn’t want to shell out $80+ a month for Nutrafol. I’ve used it in the past with good results, but I couldn’t handle the price tag right now. Plus, if you look at the ingredients, it’s actually just a ton of biotin. Instead, I found this bottle at Costco and it’s been an amazing replacement. My hair has been growing back at an incredible rate and it actually feels healthier. I’ve already re-bought these multiple times and I’ve saved so much more money that I would have if I kept getting Nutrafol.
