There are a lot of fashion things I just didn’t understand before coming to DC: vests, scarves with short sleeves, long sleeves with shorts… you get the point.
But after living in DC, I’m finally starting to understand all of these things. Why? Well in Wisconsin, there isn’t much of a point to wearing vest. Sorry, but you need sleeves or your arms will freeze.
Here? Not so much. Unless it’s cold cold, then you can easily layer on a vest and be fine. In fact, I’ve started to prefer wearing them on days when I know I’ll be going on long walks or I’ll get over heated.
But I’m not wearing a vest in this post, so I’ll get to the point. This outfit was basically an entirely other outfit that I didn’t understand until I threw it on. It was one of those really weird days where it had kind of rained that morning, and it kept going back and forth between warm and just kind of chilly enough to be annoying. Aka don’t bother with a jacket, but I’m lost after that.
This outfit somehow managed to be perfect for that. The dress kept me cool for when I started to get overheated from walking around too much (it’s a weird problem, I just walk too fast), but the scarf was perfect for when I stopped moving and the cold kicked in. In fact, while I was wearing this outfit, I even said to Lauren, “I FINALLY understand why/how people wear these outfits.”
Hopefully you understand at this point that I’m not one to wear outfits that don’t really make sense. My style is very much easy and comfortable-in fact, I’m writing this wearing a long sleeve shirt and leggings (though that may also be because I’m going to pure barre later). I’m not going to be running around in outfits that don’t meet the temperature outside.
So hopefully when you see me in these outfits, you realize that I’m dressing exactly to make myself comfortable for the current weather or I’m just layered up because I know I’m going to need them later.
But I promise you, if you ever see me wearing a sweater in August on here, I was definitely sweating like crazy when I was taking those pictures. TMI? Oh well.
