I may have mentioned a few times (okay maybe like a thousand times), but two weeks ago I got the opportunity to attend the Southern Blog Society Conference. I was given the chance to network with some awesome brands and meet some of the most amazing bloggers. I loved getting the chance to meet other bloggers from all over the South and talk with them about blogging (and take A LOT of pictures).
One of my favorite parts was our learning sessions on Saturday morning. There we were given the opportunity to learn even more about the blogging business from some of the best. I learned some pretty awesome tips while I was there and today I wanted to share a few of the best tips with you!
The Blog
- Figure out what the goal of your blog is and what you are doing to achieve that goal.
- A unique point of view is what will get your blog noticed.
- Know your audience. Know who she is and what keeps her going.
Blogging Business
- What’s the difference between your blog being a business or a hobby? If you’ve had three years of profit, you’re a business.
- Open a separate bank account and paypal account for all of your blog transactions.
- Always use google analytics-it’s the industry standard
- Back up your site!
The content
- Your content is crucial.
- Use keywords in the body, image, title, url, and alt tags.
- Working with a brand? Stick with the agreed upon deadline and have your post up within a week of getting the content.
Picture Taking
- When you’re taking pictures, you can use a foam core board to reflect natural light back into your picture.
- Not enough natural light? Just don’t take the picture.
- Never shoot at noon!
