It’s happening guys, I’m wearing an outfit that’s all Everlane. I can’t decide if this is an achievement, if it’s long overdue, or if it’s probably already happened. Maybe all three? Either way, it’s happened right now, and it’s happening for a blogger style two ways post!
Now, can you guess what Anne and I are styling without looking at the title? It’s probably too late for me to have even asked that, but oh well. It’s a black turtleneck! The most basic of all winter pieces.

The Black Turtleneck
Why is a black turtleneck the most basic of all winter pieces? Well, you can pair it with just about anything and layer it under everything! I’m pretty sure I was wearing them before I even actually liked turtlenecks, that’s now much of a staple they are.
Ways to Wear Them
There’s a number of ways to wear this piece, but I figured I would give you a few examples, just to give you a head start.
Mini Skirt
I absolutely love wearing turtlenecks (black or not) with shorter skirts. First, it gives me Good Girls Revolt vibes, which I absolutely love. (If you haven’t watched that show, you need to now. I’m so sad that show only got one season.) Second, I love the contrast of conservative turtleneck with the shorter skirt. It makes the shorter skirt seem so much more acceptable. Especially if you combine it with black tights. (I threw in a striped turtleneck here too, but same idea.)
Black Jeans and Neutrals
Just like I did here! It’s so simple, but it works so well! Pairing black on black looks polished, I promised. The only this is that you need to make sure you pair it with the right accessories. That means pairing it with contrasting colored pieces (like white or cognac) to keep the look from being too dark. Especially on these dark winter days. You want your look to stay fresh, not dark!
Long Camel Jacket
I don’t have any picture example here, but I love the look of a black top just peeking out of a camel jacket. Just throw on a pair of jeans and then you’re good to go!
I can’t wait to go see now what Anne has put together for her blogger style two ways! Head over to her post to see!
