It’s finally Thanksgiving week! Have I mentioned how excited I am? This is one of my favorite holidays. Not because I’m particularly a fan of the “Thanksgiving story” (we can discuss that another time), but because I love the idea of getting together with your family over a huge meal and being thankful for their company. It also doesn’t hurt that it’s kick off of three day weekends and days off in a row. Hellllooooo free vacation.

But let’s talk about clothes, specifically Thanksgiving outfit ideas.

Today I decided to give you TWO potential Thanksgiving outfits. One is a nice tie front shirt dress that’s a little nicer, while the other is a little bit of a more laid back look with a striped shirt and a sweater blazer that makes it seem more dressed up (but is still so comfortable).

Thanksgiving Day Outfit Breakdown

So how will I come up with my Thanksgiving outfit idea? Well, it’s going to come down to a few different factors

Comfort Level

One year we had to go to four Thanksgiving, one of which was a 90 minute card right away. They were also vary levels from casual to more nice/ish. That year, I opt’ed for jeans, a nice, sweater ,and boots (because it was still snowing).

This year, Thanksgiving is going to be in my house, so I just need to be ready and able to go between the dining room and kitchen to help my mom.

Shoes

As much as I factored my shoes into my outfits for my friendsgiving outfits, I think about them less for Thanksgiving. Honestly, I kind of figure I’m going to be somewhere where I’m going to be asked to take them off because of snow or rain. So in this case, I don’t plan to plan my outfit around shoes. I just make sure that whatever socks I’m wearing don’t have holes in them, haha.

If you are lucky enough to be in a snow free environment for Thanksgiving, look back to my casual friendsgiving guide for your shoe ideas. Will you be helping to serve food? In that case, you may want to wear shoes that it’s easier to walk around in. If not, go crazy with your options!

Where am I going this year?

Am I staying at home? Going to my grandma’s house?
Now, I can’t tell you what to wear to your grandma’s hour or your aunt twice removed, that your own judgement call. But take that dresscode into account and pack an extra outfit for when your mom doesn’t approve.

My Thanksgiving Outfit Ideas

For these two outfits, I went with comfort over most other things. In the first outfit, while the dress looks a little dressy, it’s also actually a really warm, soft flannel dress. With the jeans and blazer, the blazer is closer to an unstructured sweater material, so it’s also pretty comfortable. My jeans are also stretchy jeggings, so they have room to expand when I decide to go back for seconds!

What do you have planned for Thanksgiving this year? Are you planning on getting dressed up or do you get to dress down a little?
