I have completely forgotten how to dress myself. Or at least get dressed in an appropriate manner for taking outfit pictures. Yes, I do almost always put on outfits that I’ve worn already or I’m planning to wear, so typically getting ready for a blog photo shoot is a no brainer. But this time it was like my brain just turned off and didn’t know how to put clothes together.
I wanted to do a good late summer/early fall look, but the problem is that thanks to covid, I barely leave my apartment. And in my apartment, it’s almost always sweater weather. I’ve been wearing my heavy knits since May. So I honestly don’t know what people are doing outside right now.
But then I remembered that I just got this beach sweater from J.Crew and it would make the perfect sweater to transition from summer to fall.

The perfect sweater to transition from summer to fall
So what makes this the perfect sweater to transition from summer to fall? Or what would give any sweater that title really? Well it’s all about the open stitch.
Open Stitch Sweaters
What is an open stitch sweater? An open stitch is a looser stitch in knitting that allows some room for the thread to breathe in between. These are great transitional sweaters because the open stitch allows just enough air to pass through. So if you’re a little chilly, they’ll keep you warm, but you’ll also get that nice breeze when you’re out in the sun.
It’s really the best of all worlds.
How I Styled It
From there, styling was easy. I just grabbed my two most worn items this summer: my broken in Old Navy jeans and the MOST comfortable rubber sandals. These still might be my best buy of the summer. If you haven’t gotten a pair, you’re only making life worse for yourself.
No, this outfit isn’t that fancy. Yes, my boyfriend told me I should change my blog name to “Something Meh” or “Something Okay” when I told him this is what I was taking pictures in. But it’s what I’m wearing lately and I love it.
