Sunday Book Club: Summer Reading List

I really hate that I’m sharing my Summer Reading List. Only because it means that reading by the pool season is coming to an end. Except who am I really kidding because pool season in DC went to October last year.

Sunday Book Club: Summer Reading List | Something Good

Anyways.

I’ll be honest, my Summer Reading List doesn’t have much rhyme or reason to it. I tried to make it themed. I really did. But in the end, these are just the books I read this summer and really liked. There are a few that I left off of this list, but they’ll be in my “Oh America” reading list coming up in a few weeks (I couldn’t deny that theme).

Kindred Spirits

I love anything Rainbow Rowell, so a novella from her was a perfect way to break up some heavier reading. It’s also perfect for anyone who loves Star Wars.

When Dimple Met Rishi

This book was too adorable. I listened to it on audio and I could not get enough of it. I think I may even go back and buy the hardcover, I love it that much and want to support the author.

Always and Forever, Lara Jean

I’m a diehard Lara Jean fan, so of course the third book in this series LINK was going to make it in. I also can not wait for this movie to come out. If you’ve missed out on this series, do yourself a favor and go read the entire thing asap. You’ll have your best weekend ever.rich

North of Happy

I wanted to give the main character in this book a hug. Seriously. This book starts off pretty tragic, but I promise it gets better really quickly. As a lover of the Food Network, I also loved this book (you’ll have to read the description to see why).

Once and for All

Wow, this was a good summer for all of my favorite authors. Again, Sarah Dessen ride or die. New book lived up to my love.

Pigs in Heaven

I don’t know why I’m always hesitant to read Barbara Kingsolver novels, especially since I always love them in the end. This was the sequel to NAME, but it was just as good as the first. I also love how it incorporated even more of the characters from the first.

Rich People Problems

It was also a great summer for sequels/trilogies. The third book in the Crazy Rich Asians series, this one did not disappoint (and maybe got even crazier, if possible).

Small Admissions

I went into this book expecting to not like it. I don’t know why. Maybe it was the cover art? Isn’t it crazy how much that could influence your opinion? Anyways, I came out really liking it and having a hard time putting the book down. It was nice to see a book where the women actually managed to get their sh*t together.

There were so many other books this summer (and a quite a few duds in a reading slump), but these ones definitely stood out above the rest. Let me know if you’ve read any of them or if you’re going to check them out.

  1. Once and for All surprised me, and I really liked it. I haven’t read any of the others on your list, though. I’ll have to look into them!

  2. Oooh, I have read nothing on this list aside from the Barbara Kingsolver, so I’m going to be taking advantage of as much summer-ish reading weather I can get and add several of these to the list. The Kevin Kwan and When Dimple Met Rishi were already on my list (just waiting for the library copy!), but now I’m even more excited to get to them. And then somehow I didn’t know about that Rainbow Rowell novella – it is going to be an excellent break between some heavier things… already bought on Kindle in the last 2 minutes 🙂 North of Happy and Small Admissions are going on the list too!

    • Time to start reading! I’m so excited to hear what you think about all of these once you’ve read them!

And since I’m guessing you already read the Rainbow Rowell one, what did you think!?
