Sunday Book Club: Mother’s Day Edition

For today’s Sunday Book Club, I thought I would talk about something that’s had an important impact on my bookish life: my mom.

My mom was one of those woman who always had a book on hand. Need to wait in the doctors office? She pulled out a book. Dinner done and waiting for us to come downstairs? Pulled out a book.  In between my back to back volleyball games (which she always attended)? Pulled out a book. You get the picture. She never traveled without one and I realized the best way to get through travel was a stack of books (and now a fully loaded kindle). From her I learned that a book is the easiest way to solve boredom.

She also made my sister and I realize the joy that just going to the library. On weekends, after achool, or during the summer, there was always time to stop by the library to pick up or return a book. On days when we had a little more time she would let us roam free throughout the library and pick out our pile of books. Now every time I move to a new city, one of the first things I do is go to the library. It’s almost a little scary how much pleasure I get and how much it destresses me to just walk around the library.

So thank you mom. Thank you for turning me into the crazy reader I am. Thank you for teaching me about all of the secret worlds that live in the pages of books.

And thank you for getting a book cover to hide the covers of your romance novels.

And now, for your reading pleasure, some books that my mom and I have enjoyed together, from when I was little to now:
