When it comes to audiobooks, I can be pretty picky. All it takes is for me to dislike the reader’s voice and I’m done. I have figured out though what types of books I do enjoy on audio (always memoirs) and today I wanted to share some of my favorites with you!
This is a pretty varied list, so there should hopefully be something for everyone! I also think that all of these would be great audiobooks for traveling!
I Don’t Know What You Know Me From by Judy Greer
(read by Judy Greer)
I’m not sure what you know her from either, but trust me, you’ve seen her in something (even if your my boss and the only thing you can place her in is one of the cell phone commercials). This book made me want to be her best friend.
The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern
(read by Jim Dale)
Fantasy novels are perfect for audio consumption, especially when they’re read by Jim Dale.
Why Not Me by Mindy Kaling
(read by Mindy Kaling)
Perfect for any Mindy fan. Just perfect in general.
Veronica Mars: The Thousand Dollar Tan Line by Rob Thomas
(read by Kristen Bell)
Perfect for any Veronica Mars fan. Plus, the first novel is read by Kristen Bell, so it can’t get any better.
Stone Mattress by Maragret Atwood
(read by Margaret Atwood, Rob Delaney, Mark Bramhall)
I could never get into short stories until I started listening to them on audible. Any fan of Maragret Atwood will enjoy this collection of stories of odd situations.
One More Thing by BJ Novak
(read by BJ NOvak, Mindy Kaling, Judy Greer, and others)
More short stories read by some of your favorite actors. You really can’t lose.
Middlesex by Jeffrey Eugenides
(read by Kristoffer Tabori)
One of the few non-fantasy fiction books that I like on audio. The narrator is excellent which really helps.
Harry Potter Series by JK Rowling
(read by Jim Dale)
Harry Potter + Jim Dale + FINALLY Available on Audible = run, don’t walk.
Also, I’ve heard great things about The Martian on audio, but I haven’t listened to that yet. I did love the book though, so I would suggest checking it out.
