How to Wear a Summer Cape Scarf

I think that this past winter firmly established my love of cape scarves. Having an item that could be used to many different ways and was super cozy was basically the best thing ever. I was actually a little sad to put away my scarves once summer weather started. That is, until I realized a wonderful thing existed: the summer cape scarf.

The Summer Cape Scarf

How is it Different From a Regular Scarf?

Thinner Material

The first thing that you need to know about these scarves are pretty different from the ones that I sang the praises of back in February. The cut is still exactly the same (a long rectangle with two slits for your arms), but the material is significantly thinner. You aren’t going to find a chunky or thicker fabric in this case.

Lighter

Not only with the material will be thinner, it’ll be much lighter. After all, you don’t want a heavy sweater in the summer, right? So would you want to wear a heavy knit scarf? Nope! You would go for a light and airy scarf. It’s the same in this case.

More Tassels! (And a little bit brighter)

Summer means it’s time to pull out the brighter colors and fun additions. That means brighter colors or little tassels. This scarf may not be the BEST example of that, but I’ll be sharing a different scarf soon that does have those features.

How To Style Your Summer Cape Scarf

When it comes to your summer cape scarf, how you choose to style it definitely depends on the style of your scarf.

Pool Cover-Up

The more summer-y and bright your scarf is, the perfect it is for a pool over up! In this case I would aim for the lightest cotton one that will air dry the fastest.

Dress Up Your Casual Outfit

This is what I showed in my pictures here. I used my scarf to dress up what would have otherwise been a casual t-shirt and jeans look. Plus, it’s perfect if you’re walking around outside and then it gets a little chilly when you head inside.

Replacement for a Wrap at Weddings

Forget the regular “wrap”, get out your scarf! After all, what is a wrap if not just a meh scarf? As you know, I’m also a fan of something that can get multiple uses out of it. So if you can use it for a wedding and then with regular outfits another time, isn’t that totally worth it?

Keep You Warm in a Chilly Office

Ah, the torture of being a women in an office in the summer. You’re fine outside and then your office is FREEZING. You’re basically required to keep a scarf in your office to avoid frost bite. The summer scarf will be perfect with a dress or a sleeveless top.

What do you think about cape scarves? Do you think you’ll only wear them in the winter or would you test out a summer option?
