We’re in the time of subscriptions! You can basically subscription-ize your entire life, from your groceries to your vitamins to your entertainment. Sometimes I think it can get a bit ridiculous, but there are other times where I absolutely love it. Since there are some subscriptions that I do use, I thought it would be helpful to share them with you so you can also take advantage of them in the new year!
I feel like I should also add, nothing in this post is sponsored, but all of these links are affiliate links, so if you sign up, I do get something back. But, you’ll get something free out of most of them too.
The Subscriptions You Need to Try
Your Life and Health
Classpass
I already sang the praises of ClassPass earlier this week, but if there’s any time to join ClassPass, it’s now! It’s such an easy (and inexpensive) way to try out different different workout classes and figure out what workouts and studios you love the most. Plus, unlike other fitness memberships I’ve been apart of, you can actually use ClassPass in other cities! So if you want to get a little exercise in while you’re traveling, you can without an additional expenses! If you join using my link, you can get your first month for FREE! So really, there’s nothing to lose here.
Quip
I really never thought I would be talking about how much I love a toothbrush, but here we are. Why do I love quip? First, every three months, for only $10, they send me a new tube of toothpaste, a travel tube of toothpaste, a new toothbrush head, and a battery for my toothbrush. Second, since they send the toothbrush every three months, I don’t need to remember when exactly I need to change my toothbrush (hint, your dentist says to change it every three months).
Third, it has a built in two minute timer (the amount of time you’re actually supposed to brush your teeth). The timer also buzzes every thirty seconds so you can focus on the four quadrants of your mouth. Fourth, since it’s battery charged, you don’t need to worry about any charging cords. It’s its own travel tooth brush! Fifth, it has a sticky back so I can stick it to my mirror for storage when I’m home. Ta-da, no taking up space.
Finally, whenever I use an electric toothbrush, I get lots of compliments from my dentist. I’ve gotten even more with this toothbrush.
Want to try it out? Use my link and get your first brush head refill for free!
Amazon Prime: Subscribe and Save
I wrote a whole post about how much I love Subscribe and Save. The main draw for me? Getting my mascara replacements every three months at a discounted price and not even having to think about it. I also use it to get soap replacements, some food in bulk, and a few other things.
An Amazon Prime Subscription is obviously good for other things (free fast shipping and lots of free entertainment), but Subscribe and Save may be one of my favorites.
Hello Fresh
I’ll be honest here, I don’t use food subscription services a lot. But out of all of them, Hello Fresh is my favorite. I love that they assume that you own basically zero ingredients. Additionally, I think that their packaging is the best out of all of the other brands. Their meals are delicious and their instructional cards are SO helpful. Plus, if you don’t know how to do things, their app has video tutorials.
I think that the boxes are super fun to do every once in a while (especially when you don’t feel like meal planning). Use my link to get $40 off of your box, bringing your total down to only $20! (Much cheaper than going out for three dinners for two people.)
Your Entertainment
Book of the Month
There’s a reason Book of the Month made my list of favorite purchases of 2018! It’s my new favorite way to discover new books and it’s double my to-read list (in the best way). I also love how I’m able to get brand new hardcovers for only $14.99 (which is unheard of in the book world). Try it out (you can get a free book and then quit if you want) and you’ll probably fall in love with it too.
Audible
2018 was my year of audiobooks and I’m not mad about it. I love that I’m able to listen to books while I’m on the go, so I basically never have to stop reading. It’s really a dream come true. I have a few different ways I listen to audiobooks (I explained it in this post). One of those ways is my audible membership. With Audible, for $14/month you get one credit that you can use to purchase any audiobook (no matter the price). But the cool part is that once you’re done with the audiobook, you can return it (no questions asked) and get your credit back. So yes, you can really turn Audible into an ad hoc library for yourself, if you want. They also have some really great sales, so you can get some audiobooks for under $5.
If you want to try it out now, you can get two free audiobooks! (And no, I won’t be offended if you get your audiobooks and then cancel it.)
Scribd
Okay, so I don’t use my own account for Scribd, but I love it all the same. I explain how it works here, but Scribd is more like a library that you pay $14/month to be a part of. It has books, audiobooks, magazines, and sheet music and you’re able to borrow whatever is available. I use it primarily for the audiobooks. It doesn’t always have everything I want, but it does have a HUGE collection. And the books I do want are typically coming back the following month.
I say it’s totally worth trying out, especially since I’m giving you your first two months for free!
AMC Stubs A-List
At the end of last year, my Moviepass subscription ended and they wouldn’t let me renew it (insert eyeroll here). I decided to instead try out the AMC Stubs A-List program and I love it! For $20/month you get to see three movies a week at any AMC theater. Plus, unlike Moviepass, you get to book your tickets ahead of time. The only downside is that the AMC theater is across town from me. But the theater is super nice and has a lot of movies, so it’s worth it for me.
Your Money
Digit
I’ve talked about Digit plenty of times on here before, but I’ll do a quick summary again here. Digit is a savings platform that makes saving SUPER easy. All you have to do is hook it up to your main checking account! It’ll then track your purchases and when it sees it’s appropriate, it’ll withdraw a small amount (so tiny you won’t even notice) and move it into a savings account). Digit will keep doing this over time and the money will keep adding up!
I love it because you’re able to put the money into designated savings buckets in Digit, so you can have them save for different things like paying off credit cards, saving for vacations, or just saving for a rainy day. Plus, it makes saving absolutely painless. Check out the many other articles I’ve written about Digit to learn more about it.
Also, if you want to join Digit, use my link and they’ll give you $5 towards your savings!
Acorns
Like Digit, Acorns has also been sprinkled around my blog a lot in the last year, especially with my increase in finance articles. In case you missed it, Acorns is a round up tool that looks at your purchases and rounds up each of them. It then takes that change and invests it for you. It’s a great tool to learn more about investing and way to start out in the stock market!
Robin Hood
A few weeks back I was talking to my dad and telling him that I wanted to buy stock in a certain company. But I told him that I didn’t actually know how to do that. I apparently missed that day in school when I was supposed to learn how to do that. I was said to my dad, “Am I supposed to call my guy and tell him to do that? Who’s the guy? How do I even find a guy?” Seriously, so many questions.
Luckily, I found an answer.
Robin Hood is a super easy online tool that allows you to buy stocks from different companies! You can see how different companies are doing, what dividends are being paid out, and how to buy more stocks. It’s really fascinating. It was also nice to learn that I didn’t need to find a guy, I could do it myself.
And since we’re on a sharing trend, if you want to join Robin Hood too (and be your own guy), if you join through my link, we can both get a free stock when you sign up!
Stash
Okay, it’s my last investing one, I promise! Stash is another auto investing tool. You can set it up to take a certain amount of money out of your checking account every two weeks (or adjusted) and they’ll invest it into whatever mix of stocks you’re interested in. By that I mean a moderate mix, or a more conservative one. What I love about Stash is that they break EVERYTHING down. Stash is great about really explaining investing and helping you to fully understand what you’re doing. They also have a full “Learn” section so you can go even deeper into investing and expand your knowledge.
Join now and expand your wallet and knowledge! (And yes, with this link you get a little cash to invest too!)
Phew! With that, I’m done! It’s a lot to think about, but I really love everything involved. I’m not saying you have to try it all at once, but maybe give one or two things a chance. You never know what you’ll love!
