Six Long Casual Summer Dresses For Women

You know what’s great about a good tank dress? It’s NOT hard to find! I’ve found great options from Everlane and Target this summer, but I’ve seen them all over the web.

These (typically cotton knit dresses) are great for weekends, running errands, or just working from home. I get so much mileage out of these dresses because they’re just so darn comfortable! I love pairing them with my most comfortable flats and simple purses, but I could easily see pairing them with wedges and jean jacket for a more dressed up look.

Also, this tank dress from Everlane is a great option for petites. I’m 5″0′ and it hits at a great mid-calf spot so it’s just long enough without being overwhelming.

It’s a little hard to see this in the picture, since this is a black dress, but a tiered maxi is exactly what it sounds like. A maxi dress, but with horizontal sections. It gives your long dress a little more volume and gives it a little more oomph!

There isn’t a standard fabric type with a tiered maxi, but as you can see with this dress, I was able to dress it up here with wedges and fun earrings. I could have also easily dressed it down with flat sandals.

This dress is perfect for summer because the eyelet at the bottom has that perfect summer look and the loose skirt allows for a lot of ventilation.

Finally, this dress is a perfect example of how you can still wear black in the summer. I sometimes shy away from it because it can make me look TOO pale. But, it can also be the perfect palette for colorful accessories and shoes. Pairing them with a black dress will allow them to truly pop and shine.

I love a good long sleeve casual dress. It might seem counterintuitive for summer, but hear me out. Do you burn easily during the summer? Do you constantly have to apply sunscreen? Then short sleeves are your best friend. They give you a break from applying sunscreen all over your shoulders and can still allow you to enjoy the warm weather.

This dress in particular is a summer favorite of mine. The slit in the front gives you plenty of breathing room, helping to keep you nice and cool, while still offering some sun protection.

The belt helps to give the dress a little bit of shape and allows you to control how high the slit in the front is. That way, you can make the dress as loose or tight as you want. Also, if you’re on the shorter side (like I am), you might not want a slit that goes TOO high.

Finally, YES, this dress is petite-friendly!

Is a long casual slip dress the ultimate casual summer dress?

Yes

Truthful, I haven’t really been able to get into this one as much, you can’t argue that this dress isn’t comfortable. It’s also incredibly versatile. I could see this dress going from an outdoor picnic where you’re wearing flip-flops to a wedding with heels on. (Though it would definitely need a good steam first.)

I absolutely love a good halter dress. Like the shift dress, it’s one that you can easily switch between casual and dressed up with just a few accessories and shoe switches. Flats to wedges and stud earrings to dangly ones. That’s all you need!

The other thing I love about halter dresses is that you can find them in SO many different fabrics and colors depending on what occasion you’re looking for. If you want to stick to casual, I would aim for a more jersey fabric. (That’s the really soft and stretchy one.) But if you want to go for fancy, satin is always an option!

Personally, I love wearing this dress out to date nights or casual day events. It always makes me feel cuter and a little more dressed up.

Like a tank dress, I love a shirt dress for how casual and comfortable it is. I talked about this in my post last week, but a shirt dress is perfect for throwing on your most comfortable sandals and living your best life.

When it’s a long shirt dress, it’s even better. Why? Well, a slightly fitted shirt dress can easily be paired with the right items to make people think you’re slightly dressed up. So if you play your cards right (and you work in a casual office), you could wear a shirt dress to work.

I know it sounds like I’ve lost it, but I swear I haven’t. I’ve worn my longer shirt dresses to work and not only have I looked perfectly work appropriate, but I was comfortable all day long.

So how would I style this for work in the summer? A pair of low pumps, a fitted cardigan, and then either a statement necklace or a pendent necklace. The only other important thing is that you need to make sure your dress doesn’t have a pocket. If it does, that dress won’t work.
