If you follow me on Instagram, then you probably know that I was traveling last week for a work trip. I was determined before I left to get everything done and stay on top of things while I was gone. Of course, like didn’t go as planned and that plan went quickly out the window. I had done a semi decent job of prepping blog posts before this trip, but that was it. Twitter? Nada. Facebook? Nada. Instagram? Ha! I tried to keep posting on Instagram, but by Tuesday evening, I knew that it wasn’t going to happen. Instead of beating myself up for it, I decided to do something that I normally wouldn’t let my type-A self do.

I took a break.

I decided that I would allow myself to double check posts and do check ins, but other than that? Nothing. I let go of my social media and checking everything for a week. And you know what? It was great. Not feeling the pressure to get instagrams up or check twitter was amazing. I was able to relax a little bit and actually enjoy my company’s conference. I did worry a little bit about things here and there (I’m only human) but it felt so nice to not care.

It was also nice to know that I could give myself a break from the blog whenever I need it. I sometimes have a hard time remembering that while this is a business, it is also a hobby. My income isn’t dependent on this blog, so I am allowed to take some time off whenever I need to.

I don’t know how or if this will effect the blog in the future. If anything, I hope that letting myself take more time off allows me to become even more creative with this space and inspired when it comes to my work.

Now since I’ve been gone for a week, how are you? Did you do anything fun this weekend?
