Okay guys, here it is. The Nordstrom Anniversary Sale came. I shopped. My wallet cried a little. I definitely found a few winners, but a handful of things are going back. I also found two amazing pieces from Forever 21 (it surprised me too) and ASOS. However, taking and editing all of these pictures did teach me something very important: I need to buy a new mirror.
Treasure & Bond Layered Shirttail (XS: left is sold out, right is still available!)
Yes, yes, yes to this top. It’s not actually two layered pieces, but it’s still amazing anyways. Plus, the main shirt is made of waffle material which is actually my favorite. The gray and plaid is sadly sold out, but they still have three other options (including the blue above) that I absolutely love. In fact, I ordered the gray to try it out and loved it so much that I immediately ordered the blue.
Verdict: Keep. So much keep.
More after the jump!
Left: BP Stripe V-Neck Pullover (XS)
Middle: Stripe Crewneck Pullover (XS)
Right: BP V-Neck Sweater Black (XS)
Whoops, I tripped and three sweaters fell into my bag. However, I loved them all and know that I will wear them. The sweater isn’t a heavy knit, but it’ll be perfect for fall
Verdict: Kept all three
Two by Vince Camuto Foiled Ponte Jacket (Sold out, vest is available)
For the price, this jacket was kind of a let down. The material was pretty thin and it seemed cheap and shiny close up. Also, I could tell that even though it was a sold as a jacket, it wasn’t going to keep me warm.
Verdict: Return
Looking back at this, I like the top more in the picture than I did in person. The material was incredibly soft and I had issues taking it off. However, the threading used was a brown color and it looked kind of odd. However, if the light blue chambray color comes back in stock, I’m totally going to get it.
Verdict: Return
This jacket was nice and very cozy, but it reminded me of too many other jackets that I already own. Also, I did want to show that it’s not lined, so don’t expect it to be very warm.
Verdict: Return
I loved this skirt, I loved this skirt so freaking much. The problem? It was too tight in the hips. That was disappointing because I’ve ordered it in that size before with no problems. I’m debating getting this one size up, but we’ll see. It seems to be selling very fast, so stock up now!
Verdict: Exchange for one size up
Halogen Relaxed Slub Knit Tee (Left: SP, Right: XS)
I tried this tee out in two separate sizes, but honestly both felt a little too big and droopy. Also, it’s a little hard to tell in the picture, but the one on the left was suppose to be a lighter blue, but it just looked a weird shade of gray-green.
Verdict: Return both
Left: Thread & Supply Double Breasted Coat (S)
So I’m in the process of replacing basically all of my winter coats (they’re all pretty old and falling apart). The first up was my peacoat. I ordered this one, but it felt and looked too lumpy.
Verdict: Return
Right: Maralyn & Me Quilted Puffer Coat (S)
I went back and forth on this coat a little because the price was so good. However, the neck went up a little too high and I felt a little like I was trapped. Plus, what’s the good of a winter jacket if you can’t fit a scarf in?
Verdict: Return
Splendid Robe (XS)
I was a little nervous about this one, because it was a little expensive for a robe, but it was so so worth it. This robe is so comfortable and I’ve already worn it multiple times. Also, for the record, I’m wearing jeans and a tank underneath the robe in this picture!
Verdict: Keep
I had such high hopes for this popover. Upon getting it though, I realized that it was a much looser, thin cotton. Also, as you can see in the picture, the neckline went up way too high for my liking.
Verdict: Return
Left: ASOS Swing Dress (US 2)
Right: Leith Crepe Trapeze Dress (XS)
If you haven’t noticed on this blog, I kind of love swing dresses. I wanted to get a long sleeve one for when it gets chillier in the fall, so I decided to test out this ASOS and Nordstrom ones. In terms of material, the ASOS one was a thinner jersey material, but the Leith crepe dress had amazing, stretchy material. Also, as you can see in the picture, the ASOS dress has more of a crew neck dress, while Leith has a wider scoop necklace. What ended up making the final decision between the two? The ASOS dress is actually cinched closer to the top so it has more structure near the bust. The Leith dress is a true trapeze dress in the sense that it goes straight down. Also, the Leith dress was a little shorter on me than I preferred (it’s hard to see in the picture but it was at least 1.5 inches shorter).
Verdict: Keep ASOS, Return Leith
Right: Forever 21 Eyelet Dress (XS)
I was in love with the Ann Taylor version of this dress, but at $129 that dress was a little too pricey for me. The Forever 21 dress however, is perfect and totally affordable. Also, it’s lined! Definitely things I wouldn’t expect from a Forever 21 dress. The dress is a little wrinkled in this picture, but nothing that my steamer can’t fix.
Verdict: Keep
Left: Topshop Utility Drawstring Dress (4)
Meh, honestly this dress just didn’t really do it for me. The shoulders and hips were a little tight on me and the charcoal color fell flat.
Verdict: Return
