You know what happens when you’re really stressed out at work? You do A LOT of retail therapy. Which can be really bad when you don’t actually have the money to spend. Whoops. Lucky for me, I’m also pretty good at return therapy and selling my clothes on Poshmark therapy. Hopefully that will balance out anything I decide to keep today.
J.Factory Spring Sale Styles
J.Crew Factory Chambray tie-waist tank top, Size 2
I was looking for a top to replace my old sleeveless chambray and I thought this might be it. It sold out super quickly, but when a size 2 came back in stock, I jumped on it and ordered right away. I knew it was too good to be true though. While this one looks like it fits, it’s actually too big in the chest and shoulders area. I can easily lift it one to two inches off of my shoulders and still have plenty of wiggle room.
I’m going to keep stalking this top though, because if it comes in stock in a zero, I’m buying it!
Verdict: Return
J.Crew Factory Lightweight cape-scarf with tassels
I’m so surprised she’s looking at another cape-scarf says no one. But really how can I resist when you can now get light weight summer ones? These might be the perfect solution to DC’s humid days and humid, yet chilly evenings!
This one is definitely a little more colorful than my typical palette, but that could be kind of fun. Plus, I think the tassels make it super summery.
Verdict: on the fence.
J.Crew Factory Perfect-fit open-neck T-shirt, Pink XS
After pulling my boatneck top out a few weeks ago, I’ve had it on heavy rotation. It reminded me how much I love that cut and I wondered why I don’t have it in more colors? This one fits perfectly and I love the neckline. I also love the longer “short sleeves.” They give it a little more of a conservative work look, but it still feels spring/summery.
I may have also picked up this top in white (they’re always on super sale and come in a lot of colors!).
Verdict: Keep
J.Crew Factory Scalloped sidewalk skirt, Size 2
I love the yellow scalloped sidewalk skirt so much (don’t worry, it’s in a post soon) that I wanted to try out the blue color too. I really like it, but I’m still trying to decide if I’ll wear it enough to justify keeping it. In my spring business casual post I talked about how I go into major skirt mode once it gets warm. But I don’t know if I really need more skirts. I’ll make that decision before the May budget comes out though!
Verdict: Undecided
J.Crew Factory Textured V-neck tie-front T-shirt, Sunset Gold, XS
The more I started at my golden tie front tee, the more I wondered if it just felt like too much. When I saw the v-neck, I knew it was the solution. The material is definitely different (it’s textured blend), but I really like it as well. I ended up returning my regular golden tee (don’t worry, I hadn’t worn it yet). The real test will be how it does with DC humidity (can you tell I’m dreading it?) and how it stands up against it.
Verdict: keep.
J.Crew Factory Denim Jacket, Chalk, Size XS
Can you stand how cute this jacket is? If I had realized how much cuter a white denim jacket is than a regular denim jacket is, I would have gotten one of these a long time ago. This jacket fits perfectly (maybe a little big, but I have no idea how these jackets are supposed to fit anymore). The sleeves are long, but I do plan on cuffing them a bit.
However, that being said, you NEED to get this jacket. It’s so good and you won’t regret it.
Verdict: Keep
J.Crew Sophie Open Front Sweater Blazer, XXS
Are you really surprised I got it in another color? Check out my review, love, and remixing of it here. Also, I got this for basically 50% off, so of course I kept it!
Verdict: duh. Keep.
Madewell Puff-Sleeve Peplum Wrap Top, White, XS
Why do I even try with pleasant tops? They never end up being pleasant. Ha ha. But really. Let’s discuss the issues with this top. First, the puff shoulders, they were puffy my friend (they did not look puffy in the photo). Second, the chest button did not want to stay closed. Finally, I’ll say it, my waist is fairly tiny, but HOLY CRAP, they expected my waist to be smaller.
Verdict: Go home Madewell, you’re drunk
Everlane The Day Crossover Sandal, Camel, Size 6 c/o
These were given to me from Everlane, but I wanted to take a second to review them quickly because I love them! They fit true to size and the leather is so buttery. Honestly, the leather is so soft, I could just rub it against my face. I will say that they work better for medium to narrow feet. If your feet run wide, I don’t think they would fit as well. However, they do fall under the “day” shoe category, which are meant to mold to your feet. So they may stretch out a little.
Verdict: you need them too!
Okay, that’s all for now. Don’t worry though, next week I’ll be back with a bunch of Old Navy reviews!
