You may be wondering why (or thanking god) I haven’t mentioned the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale yet. If you’re thanking god I haven’t mentioned it, feel free to skip this post, I promise I won’t be offended.
For those of you who have been wondering why I ignored it, it’s this: I wanted to find a way to share it that fit in with what I normally share on here. I thought the best way to do that would be to do a shopping reviews post! Plus, if you don’t have a Nordstrom card, you can’t shop the sale until tomorrow (7/22/16), so sharing things you didn’t have access to for another week seemed kind of mean.
This is the first of quite a few posts that I have ready for you with #NSale pieces. I ordered a lot, so I could review a lot and give you guys a much better idea of what’s available and how things fit. So for the next few days, expect a handful of double post days!
Here’s my first round of orders!
(Also, heads up Ebates does 6% cashback for Nordstrom sales, so you should definitely sign up for Ebates before you do any shopping!)
Shopping Reviews, Vol. 28: The Nordstrom Anniversary Sale
Bobeau ‘Yummy Fleece’ Shawl Collar Cardigan (XS)
Oh my gosh, I didn’t know that a cardigan could be this soft. I put it on and it was just so cozy and it fit perfectly. If there’s something that Bobeau is good at, it’s incredibly soft jackets and sweaters.
Verdict: Keep!!
Caslon® Knit Open Front Vest (One Size)
I’m currently going back and forth on this vest. The knit on this vest is absolutely beautiful and it’s so soft and cozy. The downside? I can’t decide if it’s just too much material or not. I’m definitely not going to keep the black because once it gets warmer, I primarily wear black, so layering a black vest over it would be too much.
Verdict: Return the black, still deciding on the red.
(Keep scrolling for review, this is the same sweater as directly below, but in black)
Caslon® Zip Back High/Low Tunic Sweater (XSP)
This top was comfortable, I’ll give it that. But, it just felt so plain. I can easily see it working for work outfits in the fall and winter, but I just have so many similar tops that it doesn’t seem to make sense to keep it.
Verdict: Return both.
Free People Crossover Sweater (XS)
Eeek! This top was so short in front! I put on a pair of jeans so you could see, but the crossover met right above my jeans button! The sweater was pretty comfortable though, so if you’re interested, I would say to pair it with something high waisted OR you could layer it over a dress, which would be super cute. I decided to return it though because I primarily wear pants (that aren’t high waisted) during the winter, so this just wouldn’t be the best option.
Verdict: Return.
Halogen® ‘Waterfall’ Drape Front Vest (One Size)
Let’s make something clear: one size does not fit all. Period. I think that if a smaller (or even petite!) size was an option, it could have been great. If you’re taller than me (I’m 5 ft), then I would definitely suggest checking this out! It’s out of stock, but I’ve heard that they’ve been restocking things every few days.
Verdict: Return.
Treasure&Bond Layered Split Hem Sweater (XS)
I think I missed the memo that tunic length everything is what’s in style right now. Or I just shrunk another few inches (very possible). Apart from the size, let’s talk about the knit: so so soft. Not a hint of scratch and I could curl up and take a nap. I think I need to try this on with jeans though to make a full decision, since I’m a little iffy about the length.
I do want to note thought that this top comes in three colors and I have the two of them above, blue on the left and middle, and green on the right. Sorry that the light made it hard to see!
Verdict: Need to try on with jeans.
Trouvé Side Slit Sweater (XS)
This top reminded me a lot of the gray top I got from Topshop a few months back. It’s knit and a little thicker than your average long sleeve. The slits on the side did make my hips look a little larger which made me iffy about it though. However, I could really see myself wearing this a lot once we get cooler weather.
Verdict: Keep!
Alright, so that ends round one! Check back soon for more reviews!
