Guys, the guy who works at my building’s front desk has been making fun of me for all of the ordering and returning I’ve been doing. Luckily, when he started laughing at my yesterday, the woman working with him totally defended and agreed with me. It’s so much nicer to avoid the stores and try on stuff at home, am I right?
As you may have noticed from this post, I’m on the hunt for a new cable knit sweater (white, black, and navy). I was looking for something a little more fitted, but I really didn’t want to take this sweater off once I put it on. That definitely follows my rule of “keep the things you love” so this was a keep. For those who are curious, the XS was pretty true to size and the sweater is 100% cotton and pretty thick.
Verdict: Keep
Another piece that I was iffy about, but considering I immediately used it for a photo shoot and then wore it all day, it was obvious I was in love. To be clear, this sweater is a “faux” layer, but is made out of chambray material. The sweater isn’t very thick, but perfect weight for fall.
Verdict: Keep
After seeing how awesome this shirt looked on Fran, I wanted to try it out for myself. While they shirt fit well, I wasn’t as in love with it on me.
Verdict: Return
This dress not only fit well, but it was comfortable. Unfortunately, I wasn’t in love with the color or the turtle neck While I’m okay with a cowl neck, I’m still not completely won over on turtle necks.
Verdict: Return, but highly recommend
Gap Tencel Jacket (S Petite)
This jacket was so cute, but incredibly thin. Like, no lining, won’t keep you warm in the fall thin. Since I want a jacket that’ll act as a jacket (aka keep me warm on its own), this was a no go. However, it is really cute, and if you’re okay with it using it as another layer, then check it out.
Verdict: Return, but recommend as a layering piece.
(And J.Crew Factory Splatter Tee, xs and clearly a keeper)
Gap Jacquard Bomber Jacket (XS Petite)
This jacket was really cute and fit right out of the bag. However, while it is fitted, I’m worried that it wouldn’t work as well with a sweater underneath and therefore defeat the purpose for me.
Verdict: Return, but recommend
This dress was a reminder that I can’t wear pleats. The pleats began at the largest part of my hips and emphasized them more than I would like. If you have smaller hips, then I would definitely recommend this dress.
Verdict: Return
Treasure and Bond Plaid Mini (Left: S, Right: XS)
Since I’ve been between sizes lately, I decided to order this skirt in two sizes to see which one fit better. When I tried on the small, it was okay, but I started to debate returning the skirt. The XS small however, fit perfectly.
Verdict: Keep
Jolt Laser Cut Skirt (Size 3)
I thought this skirt would be the one to bring me over to the suede skirt trend. However, as soon as I pulled it out of the box, I started singing Colors of the Wind. This skirt, while cute, was just too Pocahontas for me.
Verdict: Return
Behold, the skirt that’s made me feel like Goldilocks. The TopShop sizes kept being too small, so while I waited for a larger size to come back in stock, I tried the ASOS version. While okay on it’s own, the fabric was much thinner in comparison to the TopShop skirt. Additionally, this skirt featured a zipper in the back. Ultimately, it was a little too big,
Verdict: Return
TopShop Scallop Skirt (Size 8)
Um, so go figure, when I finally got the next size up, it felt too big. Yes, it looks okay in the picture, but that was because I didn’t pull out the waist line to show you Also, if you look at the top of the skirt, you can see it coming out from where my shirt sits. It wasn’t love, so the skirt is going back. Plus, all I could think about was how I would rather have my money back.
Verdict: Return
TopShop Scallop Skirt (Size 8)
Ironically enough, the white version fit much better than the black. After all of the trying on this scalloped skirt, I’m going to declare this one a win and call it a day.
Verdict: Keep
