The shopping room (and bedroom) review diaries are back! After I took myself off of my shopping ban, I may have gone a little crazy. Between having some Loft Cash to spend, Labor Day sales, and some Nordstrom sales. I’ve been trying on a lot of pieces lately. That doesn’t mean that I was going to keep a lot of it, but no harm in trying it on, right?
Left: Loft Swingy Chambray Dress (Petite XS)
As you may have guessed last week, I’m on the hunt for a denim shirt dress. When I found this one on the rack, I immediately wanted to try it on. The fabric was much softer and more relaxed than normal chambray material. However, the material didn’t seem to hang well on my body, it was a little bigger than most xs petite dresses I’ve tried on before at Loft. However, I was afraid to go a size smaller because the sleeves actually fit my arms really well (I have slightly bigger upper arms).
Verdict: Back to the racks for this dress
Right: Lou & Grey Spacedye Maxi
Perfect, comfortable, and soft. Everything I expect from a Lou & Grey skirt. Also, way too long. Also what I expect from a non-Petite Lou & Grey item. Sadly this skirt doesn’t come in petite sizing, so the length isn’t going to work out too well. If it goes on sale, I may consider getting it and getting it shortened.
Verdict: Back to the racks
More after the jump!
The second I tried this sweater on, I knew I was going to be getting one of them. This sweater was incredibly soft, with a slightly looser fit. I though I was going to get the wine colored one, but I wanted a new black sweater more, so black won out.
Verdict: Buy black, red goes back to the racks (for now)
Topshop Scallop Hem Miniskirt (Size 4)
I was a little surprised when I realized that this skirt was a slide on (no zipper), but I kind of loved it regardless. The material has a lot more stretch than I expected, but I also wasn’t sure if I want to size up or not. I’m going to order the black in a size up to see if I like that more. Also, please excuse the VPL on the right and fuzzy picture on the left. Blogging fail.
Verdict: Hold off until I can try a size up.
Stem Maxi Skirt (XS)
Love this, but it was a little too long. I was debating keeping it and hemming it, but part of me is thinking that if I can’t decide, I should probably just return it.
Verdict: Return
Perfect color, perfect fabric, perfect sizing on top, but way too long.
Verdict: Return
BP. Stripe V-Neck Pullover (Size S)
I could have gotten the XS, but I decided to size up for a looser fit. I already knew that I loved this top (since I already had it in another color), so it was an easy decision once I saw the color.
Verdict: Keep
J.Crew Factory Quilted Jacket (Size XS)
I’m on the hunt to replace my really old winter jackets, so when I saw this jacket on sale, I really wanted to give it a chance. Sadly, the arm holes were placed oddly high on the jacket. The shoulders were then too far out. Finally, on top of that, the sleeves were too tight. I debated going down a size to fix the arm holes issue, but I knew that would just make the sleeves too tight. I tried it on with a sweater underneath to test it out and layering wasn’t going to work out with this jacket.
Verdict: Return
J.Crew Factory Quilted Puffer Vest (Size XXS)
I bought this last summer, but then it was backordered. By the time I got it, I realized that the XS was just too big. Unfortunately, the vest was sold out and there was no chance of trying to exchange it. This time, I saw that the vest was on sale again, so I decided to try out a size smaller. This one worked out perfectly. The XXS was much more fitted, but still would have room for a sweater underneath. Additionally, it was a lot less puffy than I remembered from last year (I actually don’t want it to be too puffy). I understand now why everyone was so obsessed with it last year.
Verdict: Keep
