Has anyone else gotten back from vacation and been completely exhausted? Yeah, that was my boyfriend and I last week. It was a week of oversleeping and after work naps. But I think I’m finally back in the swing of things and ready for fall! (If DC weather would ever be ready for fall.)
Currently, Vol. 54: Sewing Machine
appreciating
Getting out of DC for a bit. My boyfriend and I took two weeks to go visit my parents in Milwaukee and then his parents in West Virginia (don’t worry, we were super cautious at all points of the trip). We didn’t do much at either locations, but it was just so nice to relax and just be somewhere else. Also, it was so good to see my parents! I hadn’t seen them since Thanksgiving and I missed them both so much! It was also nice to be able to just sit and read or go for long walks (in both places). It was the relaxation I didn’t know I needed. The trip also made me miss my apartment (who knew) and it was actually nice to come back to it.
anticipating
Re-learning how to sew! My sewing machine is officially in DC and now I just need to get it set up and re-oiled…oh and relearn how to sew. Thank god there are so many online tutorials. I also searched the type of machine I have online and there’s still a cult following for it, so I think I’m in good hands.
collecting
Ideas and tools for my little crafting corner. As I just mentioned, my sewing machine is now in DC and I finally want to set up my little crafting corner. I just need to figure out what the perfect crafting cart is for me and how I want to organize everything. I need some fashion and function here people! Oh, and a cart that can actually support a sewing machine….. (Maybe this one?)
starting
My first dive into painting my own needlepoint canvas! No, I’m not trying to start a business (please no), but I thought it would be fun to make my own needlepoint canvases when I can’t find the design I want or other designs just aren’t quite right. I did my first one Friday night and it was so much fun! It’s not easy and I have a whole new appreciation for needlepoint designers, but I definitely think I’m going to make more for myself in the future.
finishing
All of the books I have “half done.” Or I’m just putting them away. I’m sick of all of the books that I have half (or 20%) finished because I abandoned them to start another book. I’ve decided I’m either going to finish them or officially abandon them. I have too many books I actually want to read (like A Rogue of One’s Own by Evie Dunmore and Mexican Gothic by Silvia Moreno-Garcia!) that I’m not going to let these other books dwadle on my list.
As always, linking up with Anne In Residence.
