Apparently my shopping has lead me down the road of scalloped everything. From scalloped camis to shorts, I’m going to have a very scalloped summer.
J.Crew Factory Printed scalloped cami top, 0
I couldn’t help it. I loved the white version I got of this too much. As I was clicking through the site, I found the polka dot version of it. How could I resist? As with the white one, these scalloped camis are double lined, so no see through tops here! It also gives them a bit of weight, so you don’t have to worry about them feeling flimsy, which is actually pretty nice. But, they aren’t so heavy that they’ll get hot in the summer. I also love the combination of polka dots with a scalloped tank! I may have also gotten the black tank too. Don’t worry about it.
Verdict: Keep.
J.Crew Factory Scalloped T-shirt, XS
I have a thing for scallops. Who knew? First scalloped camis, now shirts and shorts! So, I have a sweater version of this top which I love! But it’s getting warmer now and there’s no way I’m pulling out a sweater. I thought this would be a good alternative for warmer weather. The front of the top is a little thinner than I would have preferred, but it’s still not too bad. The material overall is still pretty light.
Verdict: Still undecided.
J.Crew Factory Chambray short-sleeve popover, XS
This one is kind of throwing me. When I ordered it, I just wanted to try it on. I figured it would be a no go, and I would just return it. Well, to my surprise, I actually kind of love it! The material is really light and breezy enough that it’ll work on hot summer days. It also looks like a cap sleeve top, but the sleeves are much longer in person. Gah.
Verdict: I have a hard decision to make.
J.Crew Tie Waist Dot Shorts, 0
When I saw these in the store, I kind of drooled a little. They’re just so cute! I love how they remind me of 50s/60s style and have a big bow to finish them off. The waist is a light tight on the zero, but I could tell that if I went up a size, the fit of every other part of the shorts would be way too big. I also had purposefully tucked my shirt it, so it should be fine if I were to pair it with a cropped top. A note about the bow, it doesn’t go all the way around the shorts and doesn’t actually tighten anything. The bow is sewn to the two front seams, so if it’s untied, so your shorts won’t loosen at all.
Verdict: Keep
J.Crew Fiesta Seersucker Scallop Hem Shorts, 0
I had sworn to myself that I wasn’t going to buy any shorts this summer. I already have a few pairs, I can’t wear them to work, and I just don’t need them. Then of course J.Crew happened. Searsucker scalloped shorts? Who could say no to that? Well, I’m sure someone else could, but I’m not sure if I can right now. The only thing about these was that I couldn’t figure out if I’m supposed to wear them high waisted or not. I think they looked better higher up, but I don’t know if that’s right? Shouldn’t I be able to tell right away? Anways, unlike the gingham pants, the material for these have a nice stretch and the material does not feel cheap. I shouldn’t keep another pair of shorts, but returning these will be a tough decision.
Verdict: I can’t decide!
J.Crew Factory Skimmer pant in gingham, 2
There were a big disappointment. These pants were the whole reason I had actually placed my J.Crew Factory order in the first place and they were the most disappointing part of it. First off, the pants aren’t lined. This could be okay, but the material is so thin. It also has absolutely no give. I’m wearing a two here and it fits, but I feel like if I were to move the wrong way, the material might just fall apart. The material just feels kind of cheap. Also, for the petite girls, you can clearly see that the length is off. That’s typically the norm, but since these pants are also flaired a little at the bottom, I felt like I had flashed back to the 70s wearing these (and not in a good way).
Verdict: Returning it and never looking back.
J.Crew Mercantile ruched-waist dress in neon floral, 0P
I thought I was all set for my cousins wedding in a few weeks and then I found out all of the extra events I have to go to besides the actual wedding itself. (I really should have thought to ask these questions ahead of time.) Well, in a fit of retail therapy, I decided to order this and the navy dress below as two potential new dress options. I’ve discovered though that I really need to be careful with J.Crew’s petite line. When it comes to their knee length dresses, their petite dresses always seem to be just a tad too short for me. This one isn’t too bad, but the navy one below definitely felt too short for me. Otherwise, I love this dress. The waist was in the perfect place and I actually liked the pattern, despite the colors looking slightly different in person than online. I was also a fan of the material which felt girly and light.
Verdict: I decided to order a 2P and 0 to compare sizes before I make a final decision.
J.Crew Mercantile ruched-waist dress in vintage floral, 0P
From my review above, you know that this dress was too short. But what’s also weird is that this “Mercantile” dress was on the regular JCrew.com site. It doesn’t appear anywhere on the J.Crew Factory site though. You can also find a few Madewell pieces on the J.Crew site. I know that both lines are owned by J.Crew, but it’s just weird.
Verdict: See above, but ordered 2P and 0 to compare sizes before making a decision.|
There you go. A handful of winners and a lot of indecision. If anyone has any suggestions, please feel free to help a girl out! (Also, the tee I’m wearing in a lot of these is J.Crew Factory’s tie front pocket tee, which I absolutely love!)
