Do Something Good
I came across this the other day and I thought it was really cool. There are two states who now require mental health education in schools!
It may seem like something small, but there’s still such a huge stigma around mental health and discussing it. This is really the first step towards encouraging conversations and hopefully encouraging students to feel comfortable discussing it from an earlier age.
I can only hope that learning about mental health issues and being able to recognize the symptoms from an earlier age will lead to early diagnoses and lower suicide rates in both states. Also, I hope that other states will soon follow New York and Virginia’s lead.
