Note: Today’s post is sponsored by Rellery. As always, all opinions are my own. Thank you for supporting the brands that support Something Good.
The longer I’ve been in quarantine, the pickier I’ve gotten about my jewelry. I’m not wearing as much jewelry, so I want to be a little choosier about what I’m buying and where it’s coming from.
The latest company I’ve been looking at is Rellery (also the sponsor of today’s post). Rellery is a jewelry company that was started by jewelry makers who wanted to sell high quality jewelry without the middle man. They also wanted to make meaningful pieces with high quality materials but without the high prices.
Since I know you all love review and how to posts, I thought it would best best to give you a Rellery jewelry review. That way I can share what I’ve learned about the company and my thoughts about their jewelry.
Rellery Jewelry Review
I’ll be honest, I first learned about Rellery when they approached me to do a collaboration. But that’s not what grabbed my interest (I’ve said no to plenty of emails). When I looked through their website, I was actually shocked by how beautiful their jewelry was and that the prices were actually relatively reasonable. On top of that, the pieces were actually made out of things like 14K gold and sterling silver. As in, materials my skin would actually be okay with and wouldn’t immediately tarnish. Do you know how rare that is to find?
Finally, they sold all types of jewelry (everything from rings to earrings), and everything looked minimalist and classy. I felt like no matter what piece I ordered from this website, I would feel put together wearing it.
Rellery Jewelry Quality
One thing that Rellery is most proud of is their high quality pieces. Below are some of the best qualities of their jewelry.
Sturdy
Every piece made by Rellery is incredibly light, but just because it may look delicate, don’t be fooled. These chains are all incredibly sturdy. In fact, their bracelets are made with tighter links that can withstand up to six pounds of force.
Built to Last
Not only are their pieces sturdy, but they’re built to last. Earlier I mentioned the high quality materials they use (I’ll go into those later). Well, it’s thanks to those materials that they jewelry is so durable. All of these materials are not only affordable, but they can last for years with some simple care. Plus, they won’t tarnish or chip like your cheap jewelry.
Hypoallergenic
In addition to lasting for years, these materials are also hypoallergenic, so when you wear anything gold-plated you don’t need to worry about your skin’s reaction. As someone who has dealt with everything from bad reactions to green rings around my fingers (from low quality metal), this is a must in my jewelry now.
Minimalist Look
I think it’s amazing that the jewelry manages to incorporate all of the above while still maintaining a minimalist look. The fact that the pieces can be so delicate yet durable is truly incredible. Plus, they can include intricate designs and customization and still make their pieces look minimal. Check out the bar necklace to see what I mean.
Rellery Jewelry Material
I’ve mentioned the materials multiple times, but let’s really dive into them for a minute.
14kt Solid Gold
What exactly does this mean? It’s not pure gold, but it’s pure gold mixed with other metals. Apparently pure gold is too soft (and is actually related to why Olympians bite their metals). But that’s okay because 14K Solid Gold is more durable and less yellow than pure gold.
Other advantages of it?
- It won’t tarnish and low maintenance
- More afforable
- Compliments all skin tones
Sterling Silver
Did you know that this is the world’s most used silver? Sterling Silver more than 90% pure silver and then less than 10% other metals. Why? Because again, pure silver is too soft.
So why is it great to use?
- Good for sensitive skin
- Durable
- Easy to clean!
Gold Plating
This refers to a layer of gold on a base metal of silver. But this can mean a lot of things. Rellery’s case, it means a layer of gold electroplated on a base metal of sterling silver. They also try to make their layers thicker because it helps to make their pieces last even longer.
The perks of gold plating :
- The gold won’t flake off
- It’s tarnish resistant
- It’s hypoallergenic
Is Rellery Jewelry Worth It?
Overall, do I think Rellery is worth it for jewelry? Yes. I loved their jewelry options and the price range was one I was comfortable with ($69 for my pearl drop earring for example).
I didn’t do any customization and the last month has been a weird time for shipping in general AND shipping into DC, so I don’t think I can really comment on shipping times. My products arrived in a reasonable amount of time, but I had zero expectations.
Looking at their FAQ for shipping and returns, they have a pretty reasonable turnaround time for customized products. This is also pretty impressive since the majority of their jewelry is made in their own US studio. (You would think then that it might take longer, but it doesn’t!)
They also have a fairly generous return policy, and will help with broken or tarnished items. The only pieces that are final sale are the ustomized pieces (which makes sense).
Finally, out of my own curiosity, I decided to look through the review posted on the site. The majority of the reviews I saw were positive. I only saw a few frustrated reviews and those all seemed to be customized piece related. But I also saw many pleased customized piece reviews, so there’s that.
Best Rellery Jewelry Pieces
So what did I end up picking? Don’t worry, I wasn’t going to leave you hanging. Below are the pieces I was gifted from the company. I already have plans to wear them for zoom calls or when I need to travel (*one day* with jewelry). Also, yes I will be buying more ear cuffs because it makes me feel like I got that third piercing that I never actually got.
