Did you know that yesterday was Red Nose Day? Probably not. Most people don’t. Red Nose day is a day to help raise money and awareness for ending child poverty. It was started by the British charity Comic Relief in England in 1985 as a way to raise money to fight child poverty.
No one really knows why they focus on the red nose, but it helps bring a lighter, groofier side to the fundraising. And hey, who are we to judge? We’re the people that got excited about dumping a bucket of ice on our heads.
Anyways, NPR has a great article that goes into the history of the event and how you can participate (fundraising is not just a one day thing) this year and in the future.
