Do Something Good
I found this right after I hit post last week, but I thought it would still be fun to share for this week. I’m sure you’ve already heard by now, but last week, Taylor Swift made a very generous donation to Rape, Abuse & Incest National Network (RAINN). She had promised she was going to after her 2017 sexual assault trial, but this donation shows her making good on that promise. No one is sure about the donation amount, only that RAINN thanked Taylor on their twitter.
For those of you who don’t like Taylor Swift, whatever, do your thing, but do walk away from reading this knowing that her trial was important and did make a difference. In case you weren’t fully aware of the details: August’s trial against the DJ that groped Taylor Swift. After it happened, her team reported it to the radio station and he was promptly fired. He chose to then sue HER for $3 million. She counter-sued for $1 and made a number of powerful statements during the trial. After hearing her speak and seeing her win her trial, RAINN said that its crisis hotline received a 35% increase in calls.
So feel however you want about her music, but know that’s she’s doing important things for sexual assault survivors.
