I was working on putting together a post of the best things to buy at Target right now when I stumbled across this sweater. It was instant love. The polka dots version is cute, but it was the plaid print that really stole my heart. The only option was to share it here so I could encourage you all to buy it. Oh, and also style it three ways so you can easy how versatile it can be.
One Sweater Three Ways
First, the casual look
The first look I put together was a more casual outfit. Something that you can really wear for a lot of different activities. I wanted to play up the browns in the sweater, so I paired it with my current favorite boots from Madewell. These boots are the sneakiest pair of boots I’ve ever found. Why? They look cute, they’re incredibly comfortable (even with a heel), AND thanks to the rugged bottom, they’re good in snow. Oh, and they come pre-treated so you can take them in the snow.
Since it’s winter, I had to also add in a coat. While this fleece wouldn’t be good for a super snowy day, it’s a good piece to throw on when the weather is between 30 and 60 degrees. The fleece is incredibly warm, so it could also make a good layering piece to wear under your jacket for colder days.
Finally, I added in the backpack since I can’t go anywhere without a purse anymore and I love being hands free.
The Work Look
I like mostly everything in my wardrobe to be able to play double duty. This sweater is perfect for that! You could go the easy route and pair it with simple black work pants, but I decided to take it up a notch.
Thanks to another blogger, I discovered that I love the look of black boots, black tights, and a white skirt. Since there’s black and white (/cream) in this sweater, I thought it would be the perfect combination for this sweater. I then threw in some nice earrings and a black tote to pull the whole look together.
I think this outfit is a lot more fun than your daily work look. The contrast between the black and white isn’t something you normally see and it makes the look more eye catching. I would definitely be able to wear this in a business casual setting.
The Weekend Look
Finally, I decide to have some fun and put together this weekend look. Faux-leather leggings are so comfortable and cool, that every time you don’t wear them is a missed opportunity.
Now, I decided to do moto boots here instead of an ankle boot with a heel. Either works well, but I like the comfort and edginess (that I don’t have) that comes with a moto boot. However, if I was trying to go a little bit nicer, I would wear some black ankle boots (like in my work outfit). I could easily see this outfit being worn for a fun dinner, a concert, or a Saturday date night (when you’re aiming for warm and comfort).
How would you style this sweater? I’d love to hear the suggestions!
