As with most years, once this time of year comes around, all I want to do is read creepy thrillers. There are some good options here, along with a few less creepy, more fun picks. Enjoy!

November 2018 Reading List

Still Lives by Maria Hummel

The art world, a sketchy detective, and a missing artist? It’s probably everything I need in a mystery. Still Lives was one of the Book of the Month books that it took me a while to get to, but I’m so glad I finally did! It was just creepy enough to grab my attention and keep me intrigued the entire time. While I did guess a few things that happened in the book, I didn’t guess EVERY part of the mystery, which is good enough for me.

Sadie by Courtney Summers

Check out my review of Sadie here

Nice Try, Jane Sinner by Lianne Oelke

This one sounded a little gimmicky from the description, but I can use one of those every once in a while. This book had it’s serious moments, but it also was just plain fun to read. Jane is a high school student who enrolls in a nearby community college to finish up her last few months of high school and get her GED. To get out of living in her parents house, she signs up to compete on a Big Brother style show. It has it’s eye rolling moments, but Jane’s sarcastic humor will keep you entertained and keep you reading.

The Dinner List by Rebecca Serle

I….don’t know how I feel about this one. It based around the idea of if you could have dinner with any 5 people, dead or alive, who would it be? Well, on Sabrina’s birthday, she gets to have that dinner, complete with everyone from Audrey Hepburn to her college professor. Rebecca Serle is the same author who wrote Famous in Love and while I think she’s definitely grown since that book, I wouldn’t say this is my favorite.

A Simple Favor by Darcey Bell

I decided to read this after seeing the movie (normally I do the reverse, but whatever). This one was along the same lines as the movie. Twisted. But, it was a lot more convulted than the movie. I also felt like the author was trying to fit in every single twist that she could think of. This is one of the few cases where I would actually say to just go see the movie.

The 7½ Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle by Stuart Turton

I listed this as one of my creepy novels of October. Go check it out here!

Love & Gelato by Jenna Evans Welch

This was a cute YA book, but would I recommend it? I’m not sure. It was fun, but I can definitely see some people finding it too cheesy. I would suggest reading the description first and if you have other things to read, go read those first.

Hope Never Dies by Andrew Shaffer

Barack and Joe to the rescue! Seriously though, what if after the election and some time off, Joe and Barack became amateur detectives? I can tell you that it would be entertaining to watch and full of a lot of mistakes. But, I can also tell you that a part of this book also made me kind of sad. Once you read this book, I think you’ll see why. Let me know once you’ve read it and we can discuss.

You & Hidden Bodies by Caroline Kepnes

I decided I wanted to read these two books after I heard about the lifetime series with Shay Mitchell. Holy crap, these books. I think the creepiest thing about Joe (the main character) is that he’s a crazy stalker, but there are so many times during the book when you’ll find yourself agreeing with him and thinking “well, he’s not wrong…” And then you realize that you agree with a sociopath. It does drag a little during the first, but power through. It helps to do this book on audio because makes it easier to push through the slower parts.

That’s it for me! What are you planning on picking up this month?
