My Favorite Purchases of 2017

I’m so excited fro this post it’s almost a little weird. Today I’m sharing my favorite purchases of 2017. With the exception of about three items, these are all items that I purchased (with my own money) in 2017 and absolutely loved. The the three other items were three pieces that were gifted to me by Everlane, but I have loved and worn so much that there was no way that I couldn’t share them in this round up.

I’m sharing these purchases with you because I know that you’re going to love them too and I can’t wait for you to check them out!

1. Away Suitcase

My Away suitcase was hands down one of my best purchases in 2017. In fact, it was so good, that I got my suitcase in a second size! I did a full breakdown in this post about how I pack my suitcase, but I now actually look forward to traveling and getting to pack my suitcase. Away has seriously changed how I travel and I don’t think I could ever buy a suitcase from anyone else. Also, just to add, I never did a sponsored post for them, I heard about their suitcases and bought one on my own since I needed a new suitcase.

2. dv Jameson Double Zip Booties

There are some items that I’m always on the hunt forand good cognac boots seem to be up there. I can cross cognac ankle boots off ofmy list though! Thanks to Target (!!), I was able to snatch these for a reasonable price and free shipping. They’re actually suprisingly comfortable to walk in, but I love the little heel I still get. I love them so much that I also got them in black.

3. Timer

I’ve gotten into time blocking lately, especially when I’m doing blog work. This little timer is perfect for time blocking small projects and task. You just turn it so the amount of time you want is facing up and your timer starts! It’s super simple and you could use it for any other timer purposes as well (like baking).

4. Bp. Cozy Mock Neck Sweater

Say hello to the softest sweater ever. I’m seriously. I mentioned this in my review, but when I went to try it on, I ended up wearing it for the rest of the evening because it was just so soft and cozy. I ended up purchasing the black one as well and I’m going to have to restrain myself from buying more colors.

5. Teavana Perfectea Maker

Teavana may be slowly shutting down, but you can still buy their tea-makers on Amazon. So if you can get your hands on this one, do it! It easily steeps loose tea leaves, allowing you to brew your tea, but reuse the leaves if you want to make more than one cup. The tea then strains through the bottom when you put it on top of your cup! It’s pretty genius and I love using at home.

6.Nike Juvenate

It started with my maroon sneakers and once I realized how amazing those were, I knew I was going to need a basic color as well. If you’re going to get any pair of workout shoes, get these. They’re so comfortable and lightweight. I love walking in them and I don’t even think I had to break them in at all. They were perfect as soon as I started wearing them.

7. Lauren Ralph Lauren Wool Blend Reefer Coat

You know when you realized you need a nice winter coat? Not the giant puffer, but the actual nice one that will still keep you warm? Ta da! I found it and I got it on sale during the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale. This is one of the few times that a nice jacket has fit me perfectly off of the rack and I’m excited to have it around for years to come.

8. J.Crew Factory Striped Skirt

This was the skirt that I bought to get me to free shipping and then the only thing I ended up keeping from my order. But it keeps proving to be a winner! It’s the perfect length for a midi, the pleating actually works, and it works with so many different tops. It was so popular this summer that this winter, they came out with it’s sister version in polka dots (which I obviously got).

9. J.Crew Tissue turtleneck T-shirt

I hated turtlenecks for the longest time. They just felt like rubberbands around my neck. But at some point last year, I started to like them again and I was introduced to the tissue turtleneck. The tissue turtleneck is PERFECT for layering and yes, you should get all of the striped versions.

10. Eggwich Maker

I really wanted to start saving some money by making my own egg sandwiches at home (especially once Starbucks doubled their prices), but it’s not easy to get that perfect shape. So I went hunting on amazing for an easy (and inexpensive) tool to help me. TV products to the rescue again. This Eggwich maker can make my egg sandwiches in one minute (or two with two eggs) and it was super inexpensive. I pretty much use this every weekend.

11. Everlane The Modern Commuter Backpack c/o

This is one of the few items on the list that I did not buy (I received it from Everlane in 2017), but I needed to share it. Primarily because I use it almost everyday and on basically every trip I go on. It’s lightweight, thin, and can carry a crapton of stuff. I love that it can still hold my waterbottle, has an easily accessible pouch for my metrocard, and a padded section for my laptop. It’s a dream. I received it in 2017 and switched to it as my regular backpack and I haven’t looked back.

12. Old Navy Open-Front Long-Line Sweater

This was like the year of the cardigan hunt. I swear, I tried on way too many cardigans. It hurt my head, honestly. The repeated winner though? This one from Old Navy. It was the only one that fit my frame perfectly and wasn’t too long on me (which is constantly a problem). Plus, it’s soft and warm. They keep restocking it in new colors and I keep buying it in the new colors. I’d call it a problem, but I’m wearing all of them, so it’s not a problem.

13. Acupressure Mat

Oh. My. God. If you’re only going to buy one thing from this list (and you can’t afford the Away suitcase), but this. As a migraine sufferer, this has been my number one pain reliever this year. It help with blood circulation and it has definitely help with tension release in my neck. I can only handle the mat for about two minutes, but I’ll lay on the pillow for about 10 minutes before I go to bed to help release some tension in my neck every night. I swear, I recommend this mat and pillow combo to everyone I know. (I think I even recommended it to my boss).

14. Everlane The Long Puffer Jacket c/o

Okay, this is my only other item on this list that I received and didn’t pay for, but it also rightfully deserves it’s place. This puffer is amazing. Whenever Everlane does something, trust me, they do it right. For as warm as this jacket keeps me (which is really really warm), it’s also really light in comparison to other long winter jackets I’ve had in the past. There are plenty of pockets, and while it is long, it’s not too long. If you’re in need of a new winter jacket, get this one.

15. Dune Loafer

Apparently I love mules now. Circles become circles and Dana loves her clogs again. Anyways, enough with sayings, I was hesitant about these at first because I was ordering them from a brand new store, but I loved them as soon as I got them. The leather already felt broken in and I ended up wearing these all over New Mexico within a week of receiving them. I almost can’t wait until it’s warm again to break them out.

16. Blondo Volly Waterproof Riding Boot

Thank god all of my brown boot hunting is done. These were another Nordstrom Anniversary Sale find. They were comfortable right off of the bat, I loved the lining, and, they’re already waterproofed. It was a win all the way around.

17. Everlane The 100% Human Tee

If you couldn’t tell, Everlane and I have only deepened our ongoing love affair this year. I had to share the 100% human tee though. How could I not? A tee that gives back? Here’s a link to my post with a full explanation but I’ve already purchased one version of the tee, received another from Everlane, and I’ll probably end up buying a third.

18. Cuisinart Smart Stick Hand Blender

Why did it take me so long to get this? I’ll never know. But I’m so glad I did now. It was a pain in the but to have to pour things from pots into my food processor and then have to wash another giant thing. Now I can just stick this into the pot instead and have my soups or sauces be mixed in a few minutes.

19. S’well 9 oz

Okay, yes S’well bottles were on my list last year. BUT this year, I started using a 9oz bottle instead of the 17oz bottle and it’s been life changing. Yes, I have to refill it more, which is annoying, but the benefits are better. It’s easier to carry around, it’s lighter, and I can fit it in my purses, which means I’m much more likely to always carry around water with me. I was terrible about that in the past, so this has been an amazing change for me.

20. J.Crew Factory Printed Quilted Puffer Vest

You know I love plaid. I also love J.Crew Factory vests. They FIINALLY put out a printed puffer vest and I jumped immediately. I’m so in love and I’m so happy that I got to pick it up. (There are a few small sizes left if you want it!)

21. Pressure Cooker / Slow Cooker / InsaPot

I love my slow cooker, but it’s always had a major flaw for me: I couldn’t cook the meat directly in the pot. I always had to cook the meat somewhere else and then add it in. It really started to take the whole “toss everything in” fun part out of it. But when I heard that this pot not only did slow cooking, but I could also cook the meat in it, I was sold. I also realized it was a pressure cooker/instapot which is something that I’ve wanted to try out for a while. I still haven’t played with the instapot feature yet, but I’ve already sauted meat and baked bread in it. It’s also really easy to clean out. Easier than other slow cookers that I’ve had or used in the past.

22. Old Navy Velvet Sneakers

I know these look like basic sneakers, but they aren’t! They’re lined with incredibly soft and warm material. I wore these in Wisconsin in December and they managed to keep my feet warm while running errands. It was crazy, but they’re also comfortable to walk in, so I’m not going to complain.

23. Living Proof No Frizz Humidity Shield

I 1000% did not expect this to work on me. My hair will poof and rebel at the slight hint of humidity. But it worked (trust me, I picked a really humid day to try it)…It even held in my hair on the second day (and I didn’t reapply it). I was shocked and then made plans to go buy a bigger bottle.

24. Everlane Swing Trench c/o

The last item on this list, my last item that I was given instead of purchased, but also my first trench ever. I love this trench. I feel so put together when I wear it and I love how try it keeps me in the rain. This is just such a good option for a shorter trench.

There you go! My favorite purchases of 2017! What were some of your best purchases this year? Is there anything that I should check out?
