I’m actually really proud of this month’s budget/quarter. Why? I feel like I finally got my ish together this month when it came to budgeting my wardrobe.
Instead of just putting items into my budgeting and then finding out when I added up the total that “whoooops! I spent too much!” I took a different approach to it. I keep an excel document on my google drive where I track each month’s purchases and how much I have remaining in that month’s budget. I use to put in the purchases once I decided I was keeping something and then move on. This month, I tried something a little different. Every time I ordered something, I would put it and the price into my budget sheet immediately.
I feel like doing this started to change my outlook almost immediately. I started to see purchases adding up before I ever even received the items in the mail and I would start to have an idea of what I could keep if I wanted to stay under budget. I found myself taking a much harder look at everything I wanted to keep and figure out if I really wanted it or not. I did end up with a few more items this month than last month, but I felt much better about what I had at t the end of the month. Plus, I came in under budget!
