I think I love J.Crew and J.Crew Factory too much. Is that possible? Does that make me too basic? I don’t know, but I can’t stop, so I guess I should just keep going with shopping there. I really wish that there was a J.Crew Factory closer to me. Actually, on second thought, it’s probably safer that there isn’t.

J.Crew Factory Late Summer Trends

J.Crew Factory Sleeveless top with ladder trim, Academic Green, Size 0

I feel like I need to make a disclaimer here, for the “true” color of the top, look at the far away picture of the shirt, not the close up. The close up of it makes it looked washed out and teal-ish, but it actuality it’s actually more of a deep, emerald green.

Anyways, this top is great for layering and will be perfect for work. The ladder trim is also a cute touch. My only complaint is that right out of the bag the trim didn’t sit very flat. It should be fine with a steamer though.

Verdict: Keep

J.Crew Factory Sleeveless top with ladder trim, Ivory, Size 0

Honestly, I love the ivory as much as I loved the green, but they both need a good steam.

Verdict: Keep

J.Crew Factory Pull-on bias midi skirt, Loden Green, XS

I wanted to love this skirt, but it was just so meh for me. The length was too long and I couldn’t figure out if the waist was the tiniest bit too big or perfect for tucking in. The material was nice and silky though. I would debate trying a size down, but I may wait for another sale.

Verdict: Return

J.Crew Factory Button-up cami top, Faded moss, XS

I love cute camis and I thought this one would be a slam dunk (do people still say that? But when I tried it on, it was another meh. (What is going on!?) The fit was true to size and the material was fine, but I just didn’t want a silk green tank as much as I thought I did. Maybe I was just having an off day?

Verdict: Return

J.Crew Factory Eyelet peplum top, White, Size 0

Okay, so I was super nervous about this eyelet top because it could have gone terribly wrong really easily. But it was pleasantly surprising! It fit perfectly! The size was exactly true to size and the peplum added a nice touch to accentuate the waist. I also loved the little eyelet detail.

At the end of the day though, I knew I wouldn’t get too much wear out of it. It didn’t feel like my style.

Verdict: Return.

J.Crew Factory Open-front sweater blazer, Heather delicate petal, XXS

What did I say? What goes around J.Crew, comes back to J.Crew Factory. In this case my favorite sweater blazer. So I HAD to try it at a lower price. First, the fit and cut. It’s pretty much the same as the J.Crew version (which was amazing), but with full length sleeves. It also meant sizing down for a blazer. The colors were actually pretty similar too (which is why I ordered the pale pink one I had been thinking about).

So what’s the main differences? The material. The Factory one is made of a thinner sweater knit, while the J.Crew one is definitely thicker. The result of that? When you try to pull the arms of the Factory one down, it has the chinese finger trap effect that happens sometimes with tighter sweater sleeves. I haven’t had the same issue with the J.Crew version. Granted, I do have slightly bigger arms, so that may just be a me problem.

Since the original one is on super sale right now, I think I might go with that one, but this is a great, more budget friendly option as well.

Verdict: Return

Madewell Texture & Thread Crepe Wrap Top, smokey spruce, XS

I haven’t tried a wrap top in a while, but this one look kind of cute, so I decided to give it a try! The good news, it’s not a real wrap top, it’s a faux wrap (from what I could tell). It was a little more cropped that I expected, but I liked that the v-neck wasn’t as low as I expected. There is (as you can see) a little gap in the front, but it didn’t actually expose anything.

Verdict: keep

Madewell Dot Wrap Top, XS

Since the first wrap top was so successful, I figured this one would be too. I was WRONG. You could have told me this was an XXS and I would have believed you. This is a true wrap top that wraps way too tightly and it way too cropped. Also, the sleeves are so puffy. Finally, the v-neck is low and feels exposing.

I wanted to get out of this top as soon as I got it on.

Verdict: Return!

Madewell Patch Pocket Pullover Sweater, dove, XS

Finally, is it time for warm, cozy sweaters yet? No? Okay, I’ll just dream about them. I so I thought I was really into this sweater, but now that I’m staring at it again, I’m doubting it. So I’ll tell you the facts while I think it over: this sweater is super soft and true to size. It’s not a fitted sweater (it’s not supposed to be) and sometimes that’s what makes it more comfortable.

Verdict: undecided.

That’s all for now! See you for the next shopping trip!
