July was a really good lesson in remembering the importance of actually tracking my clothing budget. You seeing, for most of the month, I thought I was actually doing pretty well. I had a few purchases in my sheet from last month, but overall not too bad. The Nordstrom sale was going to make a dent, but I never include that in my July budget since I never know what I’m going to keep. (Note: I did include these Madewell tops since I’ve already worn and loved both of them!)
What I didn’t realize though was that I was so concentrated on tracking my purchases from the Nordstrom Anniversary sale, that I neglected to enter in a few other purchases here and there I had ordered to try on. Whoops. I also didn’t realize this until last night when I was putting together this post. You see, whenever it comes time to make these posts, I do one last check through my gmail receipts folder to make sure I got everything. Well, while I was looking through there I realized that lo and behold, I hadn’t remembered to include a handful of items. Not a lot of things. But enough things. Enough to make my spending total jump and make me feel a lot less accomplished than I had this morning.
So there’s my kick in the butt for July. A big old reminder that I need to remember to enter things into my tracking sheet when I order them. Otherwise I’m really going to regret it later.
