Guys, I need to stop looking at the J.Crew Factory and J.Crew websites. It’s bad. I mean, it’s so good, which is why it’s bad. I’m even looking at J.Crew Swimsuits. Someone needs to stop me, stat.
J.Crew Factory Scalloped Cami Top, Size 0
I wasn’t actually expecting to like this. I’m normally a little self concious about wearing camis. I don’t know why, but I typically prefer halters or racerbacks. Okay, actually I do know why (my shoulders look better), but that’s not the point. Anyways, I had no problems with this tank. The scallops added the cutest touch and I can easily see pairing this under a cardigan for work or just wearing it with a pair of pants on the weekend. Just a note though, it’s a cream/off-white color, it’s definitely not white.
Verdict: Keep
J.Crew Factory Scalloped-front mini skirt, 0
I clearly had to pair the tank with the skirt right? I don’t think it’s too matchy-matchy, right? I loved the skirt though and the fit is true to size. The material also has some give, but not enough that it would stretch out.
Verdict: Keep
J.Crew Factory Tassel hem sweater, XS
I expected this top to be a hard pass. Wrong! The fabric is so soft and surprisingly light for being a “sweater.” It’s comfortable and loose, but just nice enough that I think I can pull off wearing it with some nice pants for work.
Verdict: Keep
J.Crew Factory Bow-sleeve top, XS
Oh my. Nope. You know that paper-y cotton material? When the cotton is thin, but also somehow stiff? Meet this shirt. It’s a little too big and fits funny. The ties don’t even make up for it. I think I lasted less than 30 seconds in this top before putting it back in the box.
Verdict: Return
J.Crew Factory Contrast terry tank top, XS
I was so disappointed with this top. Why? It ran big. You can really see it in this picture, but there were gaps under my arm and above my shoulder. I also have the feeling that if I were to try sizing down, it would be too tight. Also, the material wasn’t that great and it didn’t really redeem itself tucked in. I had also ordered the white version, but the colors were a little brighter than I expected.
J.Crew Factory Tie-waist midi skirt Gingham, SIZE 0
Alas, another petite girl betrayed by a midi skirt. Okay, in all honestly, this really isn’t too bad. The length isn’t terrible and would actually look okay with heels. I just felt a little overwhelmed by the volume of the skirt. I also couldn’t figure out where the heck I would even wear the skirt! I mean, I could wear it to work…but would I? I didn’t love it as much as the scalloped skirt, so back to the store it goes. (Also, I then came across this version and loved it wayyyy more)
Verdict: Return!
J.Crew Factory Tie-waist midi skirt, Stripe, Size 0
See above, but ditto and more so because the gingham was so much bigger and louder.
Verdict: Return
J.Crew Factory Scalloped plunge v-neck one-piece swimsuit, Small (Left)
J.Crew Plunge V-neck one-piece swimsuit, Size 0 (Right)
Eeek more J.Crew Swimsuits (okay, and factory). Okay, so one on the left fit perfectly, though I did not do a great job. I liked the one on the right, but I’m iffy about the sizing. The bottom was tight (with little give while putting it on), but I’m nervous that if I went up a size, the top straps would fall down.
Am I keeping either? I have no idea.
Verdict: Who the heck knows. I should probably return them both.
J.Crew Open-back short-sleeve swimsuit in classic stripe, XS
Don’t hate me because this swimsuit is currently out of stock. BUT, I got it when it magically came back in stock and then disappeared again, so keep an eye on it. And I say that because this is a good one. As soon as I put it on, I knew that I loved it. It fits so well and I was so comfortable in it. Plus, as a super pale person, I love that it covers up a lot of places where I tend to burn, but still has a fun cutout in the back.
Verdict: I think I have to keep it.
