How To Style Your Utility Jacket: Blogger Style Two Ways

Ready to talk how to style your utility jacket? Even better, I’m linking up with Anne so we can both show you how we styled our matching jackets. I told you I’m feeling springy right now. And what’s more springy than busting out a light jacket?

I told you yesterday that I’m finally getting into spring mode now. And what’s more springy than busting out my collection of light jackets? Plus a field/utility/twill (it has so many names) jacket is the PERFECT layering jacket for spring!

How To Style Your Utility Jacket

Dress it down with Ripped Jeans

This is one of my favorite weekend looks. It’s so laid back and casual. I’ll pair the look with a pair of tennis shoes then and a tee (or sweatshirt depending on how chilly it is).

Pair it with Colored Jeans

Why limit yourself to just blue jeans? Like you can see in this post, it looks great with black jeans! I also love how much the green jacket pops with a white jean. You could also go with a completely bright color jean. Just remember that army green isn’t a completely neutral color, so be careful what color you’re pairing it with.

Try Out a Dress

Yes, you can totally wear a utility jacket with a dress! They’re great to pair with a sweater dress as a way to transition your winter looks over to spring. But you can also wear it over a fun floral dress with sneakers for a fun weekend look.

Why not shorts?

Okay, this may be a little more summer than spring, but since my jacket isn’t too heavy, I like to grab it as a last minute layer during the summer. I’m always surprised by how well it works! However, if you have a longer one, just make sure that it isn’t longer than your shorts.

Layer Your Look to Make it Last

One of the things I really like about my utility jacket is that it’s not form fitting, so there’s room to layer. That means that I can pretty much wear it from spring to fall with no problems (it’s just a little too thin for winter).

Change Up Your Jacket Color

I’m going to let you in on a little secret. I actually have utility jackets in two other colors! Last year I ended up picking up another jacket in blue and one in canvas (both from Old Navy). It’s great because it’s still the same weight and you can wear it the exact same ways I suggested above, but you have more variety in your color choices throughout the rest of your outfit now.
