Note: I was provided a copy of How to Pack for review by Blogging for Books. As always, all opinions are my own. Thank you for supporting the brands that support Something Good.
I was so excited to get this book, How to Pack. I’ve followed the author, Hitha Palepu’s blog for a while and she gives the best packing tips. When she announced that she was writing a book dedicated to packing, I knew I was going to have to pick it up.
With a boatload of weddings and work trips over the next few months, this little book is about to become my best friend. She covers everything from picking your suitcase to getting through security in a breeze. Packing for work vs vacation is broken down into easily recreate-able guides. She even shares how to best pack your suitcase. If you haven’t figured it out, I love How to Pack.
Now, I’m not going to share all of Hitha’s tips (you have to buy the book for yourself), but I thought it would be fun to share my favorite 3 tips from How to Pack.
- Give yourself an in flight facial.
It sucks when you get off of a plane feeling sluggish and like your skin hasn’t been cared for in days. There’s a way around that though. By packing some select lotions and a face mask, you can easily give yourself an in flight facial. You’ll arrive at your destination looking made up (and not looking like you just traveled all day). Don’t worry, she gives the details for exactly what you need to do. - Wash your clothes in your hotel room.
I’ve aspired to do this but always shied away because it seemed too difficult. Hitha broke down what tools you need (only a few) to clean your clothes without leaving your room. It’s a great way to pack even less. - How to fold/roll for maximum packing efficiency
I thought I knew how to best fold my clothes for my suitcase. I was so wrong. Hitha shared great illustrations for how to fold/roll each item so it’ll take up as little space as possible in your suitcase. If you’ve packed a suitcase enough, you know that efficient folding can make all of the difference.
Liked those tips? You’re going to love her book. Plus, it’s small enough that you can take it with you for reference during your trip! Also, even though you know how much I like my e-books, I definitely suggest just getting the hardcover for this one. It has pull out packing guides in the back and the cover is so beautifully done.
