For our the final guest post, I’m so excited to have Paloma join us from 9:30 to 5. Paloma runs this blog with her former co-worker and friend, Karen. These girls are seriously amazing at work clothes and they’re my go to when I need ideas for work attire. Also, make sure to say congratulations to Paloma, she got a MAJOR promotion at her firm since we last spoke to her!

When we last spoke, your job was Attorney, how has your role changed since (if it has)?
I am still an attorney, but in January I made partner at my firm. To be honest, this sounds a lot fancier than it is – ha! I still work on the same cases and basically have the same exact role. However, this is going to change over time – now I have to focus more on bringing in clients and marketing, and over time my role on my day to day case load will become more supervisory.
When you first started your job, how would you describe your style?
Um…. boring? When I first became a lawyer I honestly had NO idea how to dress professionally – because I had never had to! I worked in restaurants and bars through high school, college, and for a few years after college, so obviously dress was always casual. When I got my first office job, I think I wore a black pencil skirt or black flared dress pants every day. And since I was a baby lawyer, I was afraid of “standing out” in any way – thus, most of my outfits were in neutral tones.
How would you say your style has changed?
Well I am definitely more willing to take risks in my fashion choices – at least, they feel risky for me, ha! I mean, I still pretty much stick to traditional work wear, but I try to mix it up in terms of color, texture, and silhouette (e.g., I have recently professed a newfound love for a-line and “flippy” skirts – which is straight up cray cray for this long time pencil skirt-lover).
Where do you shop for work attire now?
Lately it’s LOFT, LOFT, LOFT. I swear, I could only shop there and be happy forever. I feel like they carry a lot of things that easily transition from work to weekend – which is basically everything I want. They also have fun prints, colors, and a good combination of trendy and classic styles. Other than LOFT, though, I tend to grab stuff at Target a lot – haha. Only because i go there pretty much every weekend and its easy to grab a cute top or shoes while I buy laundry detergent. Also like The Limited for suiting and blouses. And J.Crew Factory.
What’s one thing you would still never wear to work?
Stripper heels.
Finally, do you have a go-to outfit (or uniform) for those mornings that you’re too tired to think? What is it?
Some combo of cardigan/camisole/pencil skirt. Or head-to-toe black. Easy peasy.
