It’s so funny, I feel like I go into the holiday season every year planning on not doing any gift guides. I’ve always figured people see too many of them and get annoyed. But, every year you guys request specific gift guides. So who am I to say no? Also, the gift guides you guys requested are so much fun, I’m so excited to make them!
The first request I’m tackling? Gifts for the man in your life. Dad, boyfriend, brother, guy friend. All of those ones.
But let’s be clear about one thing. I’m not suggesting golf things and flasks. Seriously. Do people want those things? Or do they buy them? Let’s think a little bit outside the box here and buy things they actually want.
That’s why for this post I turned to some of my male friends and asked them what should be in a gift guide for guys. I have to say, I loved their responses.
The Gift Guide for Guys
1. Wireless Headphones
We don’t all need air pods. I’m sure they’re nice, but some of us have budgets. Why are wireless headphones great? First, these headphones are great for the gym (you won’t get tangled up in cords while working out). Since they’re bluetooth enabled, he can answer his phone or change the song without even taking his phone out of his pocket. These sends the very clear sign of “I have headphones on, please leave me alone” unlike tiny headphones.
2. A nice bottle of Scotch
When I asked one of my friends what a good gift would be, his first suggestion was a bottle of the guy’s favorite scotch. I say take it a step further and include these personalized map glasses. Get ones with the city where he’s from or the city that means something to both of you.
3. Take Him for a “Girls Day”
This was actually my favorite answer from the two guys. It boiled down to your guy needs a girls day, he just doesn’t realize it yet. So part one, take your guy shopping and to help him buy clothing. This is a shopping day for him though, not you. This isn’t supposed to be an insult to him though, so be careful with the suggestion. Part two, take him for a pedicure. He might be resistant at first, but once he realizes what he’s been missing out on, he’ll probably love it. (And yes my guy friends did suggest shopping and a pedicure.)
4. Concert Tickets
How could he not love tickets to go see his favorite band? Plus, then you get to go too!
5. A Wireless Charging Pad
Apparently people love these things? Actually, after reading about it, I kind of want to get one too. All you have to do it place your phone down on it, and it starts wireless charging. If your guys phone is always below 50%, this is a game changer.
6. Splurge on Something
I love this suggestion of splurging on something for him that he wouldn’t normally splurge on. Suggestions (from the guys, of course), included a Tokyo Bay watch, a wallet iPhone case, or something golf related (yeah, I’m rolling my eyes right now, but if he wants golf clubs, get him golf clubs).
7. Link Up Your Home
Now, for as much as my boyfriend dislikes the idea of an Alexa, he LOVES being able to say “Alexa, play. [insert song here].” Or picking up his phone and start playing his music through the speaker. I also personally love the idea of just telling Alexa to turn off the lights or tv and they’ll turn off. Seriously, I went over to my guy friend’s house and he had his entire house linked up to Alexa. The lights, the music, the whole shebang. It was actually pretty cool. So, if he doesn’t have an Alexa, start there. The Echo is pretty cool, but the dot is a great less expensive option. If he’s got that already, I’d say go for the light bulbs next. It may be weird to get lightbulbs as a present, but he’ll love it when he can tell Alexa to turn on the lights (the dream!).
Hopefully this gift guide for guys can help you find something for your guy! If you’re still in doubt though, I would suggest aiming for some sort of experience for the two of you. It’ll be much more fun than any other gift could be!
Let me know what you end up getting!
