Do Good
Last year, I shared with you my love of St. Jude and the Give Thanks. Walk. Since registration for the walk is officially open for 2015, I figured now would be a good time for a quick refresher.
St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital was established in 1962 in Memphis, TN by the entertainer Danny Thomas under the belief that no child should die in the dawn of life. With that mission in mind, he decided to work to end childhood cancer. When the hospital opened in 1962, the survival rate of the most common form childhood cancer was 4%. Today, thanks to St. Jude the survival rate is 94%.
Unfortunately, the hospital is incredibly expensive to run. The daily cost of operating St. Jude is over $2 million and the number is covered primarily by the public. One of the ways that the public helps to keep the hospital open is through participating in the Give Thanks. Walk.
I know I talked about charity walks last week, but this one is so close to my heart that I had to share. I would love if you can take the time to learn more about the walk and maybe even sign up for one in your city!

I’ve done a little bit too much shopping lately, but luckily, I’ve also done a lot of returning. Read my reviews from what I tried on. I really loved putting together this post, I might do some more in the future if you enjoyed it too!

It’s sad that Piperlime is closing it’s doors on the 30th, but at least it’s going out with a huge sale!
Go Shopping
- As you might have realized, I’ve done a lot of shopping lately, but I really love the items that I’ve decided to keep. Here’s what I loved so far:
- I also have a few pieces that I’m waiting for them to arrive (note, some items on here are c/o Shopbop):
- Unfortunately, the crossbody bag from Old Navy that you guys have been loving is super sold out, BUT the original Madewell bag that it’s based on is on sale! Yes, it’s more expensive, but it’s real leather. The quality of Madewell bags is amazing, so I would seriously suggest checking it or check out this version. Or check out the mint version! If you haven’t noticed, i kind of love this bag.
- With all of this online shopping, I just want to put in another plug for Ebates. I use it whenever I shop online to get cash back from my online order. This isn’t a sponsored plug, I just love and use Ebates that much! (Though I do get a small kickback if you use my link to sign up :D)
- Finally, my trial subscription of Rocksbox is quickly coming to a close, but I’ve enjoyed the service so much, that I think I may continue! Use code somethinggoodblogxoxo to get a sweet surprise on your order when you sign up!
Around the web
- The opposite of the advice that you would normally expect…but it’s perfect.
- This fast food chain coming out with a clothing line. Is it bad that I think some of this is actually cute?
- Do you read the blog Gal Meets Glam? Well the photographer (and husband of the blogger) has his own blog where he discusses photography tips. Earlier he had a post about instagram and it’s a must read for any blogger who uses instagram.
- A long, but fascinating article about who actually owns the rights to “Happy Birthday.”
- This lipstick looks green, but will actually produce the best lip shade.
- This 10 year old had the best birthday party. More proof that there are some good people on the internet.
- Tips and tricks for Google Chrome.
- As a former gymnast, I loved this article and reading about how people are prepping for 2016.
Yes to Ebates! Love it. And I'm very intrigued by this lipstick because I am TERRIBLE at picking out the right shades but want to wear lipstick more often…
I know! It's such a tempting idea! Knowing my luck, it would probably just say green 🙁
