Do Something Good
When I was in college and grad school, instead of giving us the day off on Martin Luther King Jr. Day, we instead had a day “on.” All classes after noon were cancelled and we were encouraged to spend the day volunteering or attending talks. Truthfully, I didn’t really take advantage of these opportunities and was just kind of grumpy that I still had classes (they were always before noon, sigh). Now though, I feel like I really appreciate that they gave us that day. If you have the day off of work, why not spend the day volunteering in your neighborhood? If you aren’t able to, why not take a little time during your day to reflect and find ways you can give back in 2016.
