Friday Night Links: Museums in 2020
Do Something Good
Museums are in a weird holding pattern right now. Some are fighting to open or stay open to the public in some way and some are trying to figure out how to run virtual programming. A lot of museums are figuring out how to pivot to talk about what’s happening in society right now and some are just trying to figure out how to not permanently close. A lot of museums are doing all of the above. I hear about it all day at my job, but I know a lot of people haven’t even thought about museums in the last few months (which makes perfect sense).
So I thought this article about what should Museums in 2020 look like very interesting. I actually agree with a lot of what was said in there and highly suggest it as a read. My only criticism of the article is that they left out the view point of any museum that works with children. A lot of those museums have already a lot of interesting work in areas of social justice and it would have been an interesting viewpoint to add to the article about Museums in 2020.
