Do Something Good
There were so many different things I wanted to share in this week’s something good! I honestly feel like my brain is dead by the time I get to this section, so I was glad to have so many options jumping out at me. This one won for major cute factor and since I just volunteer at St. Jude’s Gourmet Gala, it felt like it went along with that nicely.
This past week, Rolls-Royce decide to make mini Rolls-Royce for the young patients at St. Richard’s Hospital Pediatric Day Surgery Unit to drive on their way to surgery. It’s not only fun, but it reduces the stress of surgery. Plus, these cars do have actual batteries that can get the car up to 10 mph, though the hospitals can limit it to 4 mph.
Now, I’m sure that there’s one or two of you out there rolling your eyes at this, but you have no idea how much tiny things like these can help a hospital stay. I learned about this idea through my work with St. Jude about making the hospital seem like as little as a hospital stay as possible for it’s child patients. From giving them toys to kids only rooms to letting them be brought around in wagons instead of wheelchairs, it’s really the details that makes all the difference.
