I’m in Wisconsin right now and I couldn’t be happier. I’ve missed my mom so much and when my boyfriend suggested we drive to Milwaukee for a week, I was all in. We’ve never taken so many precautions on a road trip though. I Lysol sprayed down the car, in addition to Clorox wiping it. We barely stopped (which honestly I was completely okay with). But we’re here now and I’m so happy.
Even though we’re just hanging out here, it’s so wonderful. The weather here is so nice (like 70 degrees) and I just love hanging out with my parents. Basically, this is the best vacation and I’m doing nothing. Go figure.
Now let’s get to the fun stuff (including my new Freedom Moses Sandals)!

Weird Purchases
Freedom Moses Sandals
I totally gave into a weird trend. These are basically golden rubber Birkenstock lookalikes. Everyone claimed that they were super comfortable and after staring at them for long enough, I had to find out for myself. I actually thought these were Birkenstock brand and then found out that these were Freedom Moses sandals. Honestly, whatever, they’re so ridiculously comfortable. I didn’t have to break them in, they were great on the first try.
Yes, you could also call these as water shoes and use them for water activities too….but when am I going to go into the water? I’m just going to wear them as regular sandals and enjoy my day. (If you don’t like the gold though, don’t worry, these Freedom Moses sandals come in SO MANY COLORS!)
My Mask Chain
I talked about this last week, but now that I’ve been using my mask chain for a week now, I can tell you, I’m fully in love. It’s so convenient to have it there and not have to worry about putting your mask away every time you take it off. Especially if you choose to eat outside. Even just going from outside to your car makes a massive difference with this chain.
I bet this would even be a big game changer if you have kids. They would never lose their mask!
What I’m Doing On My Phone
I don’t think I’ve ever talked about phone apps on here. Or if I did, then it’s definitely been a while. Since we all have plenty of time to stare at our phones, now is a great time to talk about it. I’m only going to talk about fun apps today though. We could talk about productivity another time.
Games
Two Dots
I think I’ve been playing this phone game the longest. At least 5 years. It started pretty easy with you just connecting the dots to get rid of them to get points. Now they’ve added all of these weird tricks and things to make it more difficult. They’ve also added side games to keep you playing when you run out of lives on the main game. Whatever they’re doing, it’s working.
Fishdom
Apparently if you see enough ads, it can convince you to play a game. After seeing the ads on Dots enough, I gave in and started playing Fishdom. It’s basically like another version of Bejeweled (I think that’s the game I’m thinking of), that also includes decorating a fish tank. Whatever, I’m addicted.
Magic Puzzles
Jigsaw Puzzles, but on my phone. Enough said.
I talked about this a little last week, but now I’ve gotten to use it for a full week. I’m in love. My mask chain is amazing and such a good idea. I don’t have to worry about putting it away in between wears and my chain is super cute too. You don’t need to get my chain, but I highly recommend getting a chain for yourself. If you have kids, they would be great too so you don’t have to worry about your kid losing their mask.
What I’m Being Entertained By
I just needed one all encompassing topic for books, audiobooks, podcasts, and tv shows. I don’t have a lot of things to talk about, but lots of little things.
Good Bones
I haven’t really been an HGTV person before, but after watching Selling Sunset, all I want to do is stare at homes and other home renovation projects. Lucky for me, my mom has become a big HGTV fan. She’s gotten me hooked on Good Bones. It’s a show about a mother daughter team who flip houses in Indianapolis. I love how they redo the homes and they’re so fun to watch. She’s also given me a list of other shows to look into, so I know what I’ll be doing when I go back to DC.
Below Deck Mediterranean
I’ve tried to watch Below Deck Med so many times, but I just couldn’t get into it. I love Kate and Captain Lee from regular Below Deck to much, that Captain Sandy and Hannah could never really do it for me. But when I saw the promo for this season, I KNEW I was going to love it. I was right. This season has been a mess in the best possible way. I still love Below Deck more, but this season is great.
Happy and You Know It by Laura Hankin
I almost skipped this book. I’ve gotten a little sick of the “upper east side issues” trope and I wasn’t sure if I wanted to try another one. But everyone was singing this book’s praises, so I decided to give it a chance. I’m really glad I did. What I think really made this book a standout is that the main character never actually tried to fit in or change herself for the Upper East Side group. She was who she was and just tried to keep her job. The twist at the end had me squealing with glee and I couldn’t stop reading as the reveal began to unfold. I highly recommend it.
Skinny But Not Fat
Okay, I’m only one episode into this podcast, but I like it so far. She also has a bunch of really good guests, so I’m excited to listen to those upcoming episodes.
The Bitch Bible
Jackie basically says everything that you want to say but you’re too afraid to say it. She also isn’t going to change who she is for anyone and you got to respect that in a woman. It’s the podcast you need in your life.
Best Friends with Nicole and Sasheer
Have I talked about this podcast before? Well, it should get another mention. It’s basically just listening to two best friends chat (and they’re hilarious). You’ll probably also recognize Saheer (/her voice) from the multiple movies and tv shows she’s been in and Nicole, most notably from Nailed It! (In addition to multiple tv appearances and comedy tours.)
The Flatshare by Beth O’Leary
I can’t believe I put off this book for so long! It was so good and heartwarming. Also, very adorable multiple times. If you need a book that’s just going to make you happy and feel like you’re getting a hug, this is it. I will say, there is a trigger warning in this book for verbally abusive relationships. And I know that doesn’t vibe at all with what I said before that, but trust me, it’ll make sense when/if you read the book.
I think I’ve overwhelmed you with enough content at this point, right? Let’s just leave it here for now then. See you all later!
