With the end of 2016 in sight (thank god), I thought it would be fun to round up my best purchases in 2016.
I was going to leave it to just clothing, but there were some things I just couldn’t leave off of the list. So here you go, my favorite purchases in 2016!
The Clothes
Old Navy Relaxed Peplum-Hem Top
This might be the winner for the best twist on a fun basic piece. I own this top in two colors and I use it as a layering piece all of the time. It’s also fun all by itself. The top keeps going in and out of stock in different, so go get it now!
Patagonia Packable Jacket
I got this jacket with my Alaska trip in mind and it was so useful on that trip. It easily folds down and is super lightweight. I loved that I could just shove it in the front pocket of my suitcase if I didn’t want to wear it. I’ve also been using nonstop since it’s gotten colder in DC.
Abercrombie and Fitch Womens Asymmetric-Snap Hoodie (Sold out, so here’s a similar one)
So sorry this already sold out! Ever since A&F rebranded, their stuff has been so cute. While my pullover from there (I bought it in two colors!) is already sold out, it’s pretty similar to the Patagonia pullover.
Old Navy Sculpt Denim
I haven’t been able to find a good pair of jeggings in forever, so I was nervous to try these out. Well let me tell you, they do every single sculpting and lifting thing that they promise. These jeans fit so well and they’ve become my go to black jeans (I only got the black pair).
J.Crew Gemma Ballet Flats
I’ve had a strong love for ballet flats for as long as I could remember, but finding a great pair is always so difficult. After seeing these on some of my favorite bloggers, I decided to try them out. These ballet flats are SO GOOD. They fit well and come in a handful of different colors.
AEO Denim x Jeggings
Remember how I just mentioned that I have a hard time finding good jeggings? That’s because I compare every pair to this one. I got my first pair almost 5 years ago and have worn them to death. I decided to replace them this year and I was pleasantly surprised to find that not only does AEO still sell them, but the quality is as good as ever!
The Other Awesome Stuff
I couldn’t leave off some of my favorite non-clothing purchases! Here are my other favorite purchases in 2016 (the non-clothing edition!).
Kindle Paperwhite
I’ve had some form of a kindle for over 5 years. This is actually my third and by far the best. It’s small and compact, but the light feature is honestly the best thing ever. Most people are afraid to try a kindle/e-reader because they’re afraid that their eyes will get tired and the blue light will keep them awake. A Kindle Paperwhite gets rid of this problem by first, having their screen imitate a regular book page. Second, there’s no bluelight! The light (so you can’t read in the dark) isn’t backlite. Which means I can read in the dark or low lighting without any problems.
Living Proof Dry Shampoo
Anyone else feel like they’re forever trying to find the perfect dry shampoo? I think I may have found one with Living Proof. It leaves my hair looking and feeling clean. Thanks to it, I’ve been able to go multiple days without washing my hair. It is scented though, so while I like the smell, others may not (sorry about that Dad!).
Everlane Backpack
In my old age (ha ha), I’ve found that it’s much easier for me to just carry a backpack to work. This backpack works so well for that. I can fit so much inside of it plus it doesn’t make me look even more like I’m still in high school (sigh).
S’well Water Bottle
I got in the habit of walking back and forth from my apartment to pure barre last year and while that was great for my legs, my tea never stayed warm. With my S’well I’ve been able to brew tea before going to work and have it still be warm after walking outside in 25 degree weather. I’m also considering getting a smaller one for those days that I just want to make sure I have water, but not carrying a larger bottle around (a S’well carries about two cups).
Cusinart Food Processor
If you don’t love cooking/baking this tool isn’t for you. If you do and don’t own a food processor, go get one. It’s been a major game changer for me. I probably use it at least once a week. While I didn’t actually purchase it (thanks for the birthday present Mom!), I did pick it out, so still counts.
That’s it! Have you picked up any of my favorite purchases in 2016? What have been some of your favorite purchases?
