Do Something Good
In a week that has not been great, it was a relief to see something good pop up in my news feed.
Growing up, one of the first people I wanted to be was Belle from Beauty and the Beast. I mean, she liked reading just like I did AND then she got that amazing library. How could you not want to be her? Then I got to meet Mulan, that girl kicked some serious butt.
Disney knows that their princesses are some of the first role models that girls get in their lives. They’re now trying to take that off of the screen and back into people’s real lives though. With their new photography campaign, #DreamBigPrincess they’re having 19 female photographers around the work create work around the inspiring women they meet from around the world.
Some of the women in #DreamBigPrincess have ranged from park rangers to Chinese Paralympics to a young girls soccer team.
It gets even better though. Disney is teaming up with Girl Up (they work with the UN Foundation to support girls all over the world). For every picture tagged with #DreamBigPrincess on social media (through October 11) Disney will donate a $1, up to $1 million!!!
I can’t wait to see more of the pictures from this collection and the pictures that are shared on social media.
