This post is definitely coming a little later than I expected, but I got hit with a really bad cold last week. So instead of spending last week blogging and watching tv, I got to spend it sleeping and trying to breathe. So much fun! But here’s my final budget of last year. Phew.

So my 2019 budget is done, my closet is full, and I have a pile of clothes I’m trying to sell on poshmark. Some of my spending numbers were a little high this year and some were the lowest I’ve ever gotten them. (Aka negative $50 the month that I sold things like crazy on Poshmark.) I also still have a small handful of things that came in at the last minute from Nordstrom that I need to decide on for my January budget.
But I guess I should probably write about what I learned about my shopping in 2019. Or something like that? First, making sure you LOVE, not just like, something is a great rule. So is trying on things when you’re grumpy, since you’re more likely to return everything. Second, if you aren’t going to pay attention to return deadlines, only order things from Nordstrom. Finally, it’s time to go back on a budget. I went off of one for 2019 and while that was fun, it’s time to get that spending back in check.
So what’s my new clothing budget?
I’m going back to $250 per month! And I’m keeping the rule that any money I make on poshmark can be added in as an earning (or negative). It’s a budget that I’ve done before and I think it’s a pretty reasonable one to go by. I’m also hoping that it’ll make me a little more discerning about what I impulse buy to try on and what I actually buy that I’m interested in. It also gives me room to make one larger purchase at Everlane or buy some simple replacements if needed.
So wish me luck on 2020 and we’ll see how it goes!
