Phew, happy August everyone! I’m spending the day pretending to pack, getting some work stuff in order, and then, um, going to bed? Actually packing? Honestly, I haven’t decided that part yet. Anyways, it’s of course, time for a Currently Link Up. This week’s focus (and what I’m currently eating): banana nice cream.
snacking (on)
I can’t stop eating banana nice cream. Seriously. I’m addicted. Good thing it’s semi healthy, right? I’ve been making mine fairly simple, just bananas, caoco powder, vanilla, and M&Ms (much easier than last time). It’s so so good and it’s kept me from eating ice cream all of the time.
anticipating
My trip to Chicago and then home this weekend! I”m going to Chicago for TBSCon tomorrow and then right after that, I’m hoping the train up to Milwaukee. It’ll be nice to do a quick trip home and relax for a bit.
borrowing
From the library, as I always do! Right now at the top of the reading list are: Into the Water, Drums of Autumn, American Fire, Saints and Misfits, and Windfall. Oh and the other 10 books I have checked out from the library right now. Whoops?
admiring,
Seriously everything at Everlane right now. They have some really cute boots coming out soon and yes, I would like to get my hands on them asap.
purchasing.
Hopefully nothing? I feel like I’ve crossed a bunch of things off of my list like a new steamer, a better camera lens, and a hand mixer. After the Nordstrom sale and all of the other things, here’s to taking August a little easier!

I’m a pretty serious ice cream addict, so I’m not sure I could do a banana substitute, since I don’t like bananas. BUT I think I could stand to swap out for frozen yogurt occasionally. I’m also borrowing all the books from the library. Windfall was fun, and it’s been a while, but I’ve read Drums of Autumn too. I think I’ve read the first 3 or 4 in that series, but it’s been a while since I’ve read one. Those are such fun books. I’ve heard good things about American Fire too.
Okay, so I’m a serious addict also (it’s a bit ridiculous), BUT it’s amazing how much it can mimic the texture and how much the flavor of bananas can be covered up. Definitely try it just once (tablespoon of vanilla and tablespoon of cacao powder)!
I really enjoyed American Fire and is my first run with Drums of Autumn. Hopefully I’ll get to Windfall soon, but I’m in the middle of two lonngggg books right now, so who knows!
I will have to try it–I feel like I’ve tried before with peanut butter but it was still pretty banana-y. But maybe cocoa powder would do the trick!
Cocoa powder will definitely help!
I hear Saints and Misfits is a good one. I haven’t been to the library in awhile – I need to check it out soon!
I hope you have a great time in Chicago.

Thanks Lauren, it was a great trip!
I’ll let you know what I think of Saints and Misfits!
I’ve been contemplating a steamer… what kind do you have? And curious to hear what you think of Into the Water. I really liked it!
I got this steamer: http://amzn.to/2wJ6wQE and it already seems to work much better than my old one. Hopefully this is the one that finally sticks!
Oooh thanks. For that price it’s most definitely going on my Amazon wishlist!
