What’s up for today? Cardigan reviews.
Why? Well, I think I did fairly well when it came to buying sweaters last year. I crossed everything off of my wishlist and I think I’m settled for this year. But I kind of failed when it came to cardigans. So this year, I’m on a mission to fulfill all of my cardigan needs.
Old Navy Mid-Rise Pixie Ankle Pants, 2P
Do I need another pair of pixie pants? Yes. Plus, they’re a color I don’t have! Now, the thing that you should know about pixie pants is that even the petite size is kind of long on me (and these are supposed to be the ankle length ones). So if you look at my right ankle, I actually flipped the hem up so you can see where I normally hem my pixie pants too. It’s a necessary for these, but it’s totally worth it.
Verdict: Keep
Gap 1969 Stretch Denim Mini Skirt, Size 0
Another denim skirt! Since I only have one to compare this to, this one is still fitted, but clearly looser. It’s also a decent length, with a little bit of a flare at the bottom. I thought the buttons would annoy me, but they didn’t. I still need to figure out how I feel about the flare though. Does it make the skirt look too big?
Verdict: So undecided
Old Navy Mid-Rise Rockstar Distressed Jeans, 2P
The great jeans hunt continues. I’ll be honest though, the more into this I go, the more indecisive I get. This pair was pretty great. Super comfortable. I would have happily worn them for the rest of the afternoon. They fit true to size and the length was perfect for me (I’m 5 ft). I’m going to keep them a little longer to compare.
Verdict: Who knows.
Old Navy Mid-Rise Light-Wash Rockstar Ankle Jeans, 2P
Okay, I can say with certainty that I didn’t like these. They felt way too tight, the wash was a bit too light, and I did not like how the ripped ankles looked. I took a lower body only shot so you could look at the ankles a little more closely and see how they were cut/frayed.
Verdict: Return
Old Navy Open-Front Long-Line Cardi Olive XSP & SP
Since my shoulders tend me make me go in between on sizing, I decide to order an XS and S in petite to compare. The verdict for this sweater? True to size! The XSP (which is on the left for both angles) fit perfectly. The Small was a little bit wider and a little longer, but it made a difference in the fit. I would say if you’re going for a slouchy look, size up. But if you want it to fit perfectly, order your size. Also, yes it is both soft AND warm.
Verdict: Keep
Old Navy Open-Front Super-Long Cardi, XSP & SP
Another size debate, because I could. The XSP is on the left again. As you could see, this sweater ran true to size again. I liked it, but I just wasn’t in love.
Verdict: Return
Old Navy Open-Stitch Cocoon Cardi, XSP
This is definitely the cozy sweater you’re going to want to curl up in and take a nap. I promise. But is it going to be your warmest sweater? No. It’s open-stitch so the air will blow right through. If you get this, you’re going to need to plan to layer it (or wear it for a warmer day). The fit was spot on though and I liked how I could wrap myself in it. I liked the color, but I think I might return it for another color, once my Old Navy Bucks come in.
Verdict: Return
Old Navy Open-Front Long-Line Cardi, SP
Another color of the green sweater above. Sadly, I ordered this in the SP, so while I liked the color, the fit was wrong.
Verdict: Back to the store it went!
That’s all for now. One bad cardigan from these cardigan reviews isn’t too bad. It gave me a much better idea of some of the options out there though and what I’m really looking for. Are there any cardigans that you’re trying to hunt down? Or do you have any favorites that you think I should look at?
I love the denim skirt! I have been wanting to get one, but I really can’t justify skirt purchases for anything but summer… when it’s hot I wear them, but as the weather cools off, and I don’t have to dress up for an office, it’s all jeans because my home office is cold! I really love the buttons and the fit on that one though. And the olive cardigan is the one I would have kept too 🙂
Haha, that makes sense! That is the perk of having to actually go into an office, I guess. If I only worked from home, it would be all jeans all of the time. You should get the olive cardigan though, just to further our matching everything 🙂
I think the denim skirt looks great!
Thanks! That’s good to know!
I love the denim skirt too!
It is very flattering.
Thanks mom!
